It’s time to transition him to something else and I’m looking to change his food. Just recused this little guy... very malnourished, just started gaining some weight. He is missing many teeth so eating is a problem, he does he the small bites. My dog has been on a homemade diet after being diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. I have been giving high quality lean protein with white rice & squash along with supplements-Hawthorne berry, CoQ10, ipakitine & vitamin b12. Now that I've reduced the protein even more in his meals, he doesn't seem as interested in eating as he was. Can I add chicken broth? Homemade with just dark chicken meat - no bones as I know they are high in phosphorus or will this addition be too high in protein?

Puppy been eating 1/2 his meals (normal meal consists of 1/3 cup kibble) over the last 3 days. Has had high activity including a 4 mile run one day, 2 mile walk another and 5 mile walk today. Been supplementing by placing portion of meal in challenge toy. Shows no signs of behavioral changes and remains very active/playful. Sleeping a bit more...but we expect that d/t his ^ activity. Should we be concerned about anything? Switching the puppy food (purina pro plan chick/rice) to dog food?
