Amazing Product...Until the Reformulation

This food was absolutely perfect for my cat with extreme food sensitivities as it did not contain any chicken or seafood ingredients. He loved it and was free of ear infections for many months...until it was reformulated. This food was reformulated and now contains salmon oil high up on the ingredient list. I didn't notice it was reformulated until my cat started scratching his ears and shaking his head after many months of not doing so. This was extremely frustrating as the food is marketed as a limited ingredient diet, yet contains ingredients from other non-novel protein sources. I know that manufacturers aren't required to disclose reformulations, but it would be nice for those of us who have pets that rely on these foods for their safety and well-being. If your cat can tolerate seafood products, this will be great for him or her. However, it no longer meets our needs and I suspect it will not meet the needs of other cats with extreme food sensitivities like ours. I give this product three stars because it was fantastic while it lasted for us, but I was let down by the lack of communication from the company.

I needed to put one of my cats on a novel protein for her IBD, and I chose Duck. At first she ate this OK, but it didn't last. I think it may be the consistency - kind of gooey and sticky. After a short trial, neither of my kitties would eat any of it. I switched to Merrick Duck and they like that a lot better.

I was told by my vet to try to switch my cat with a senaitive stomach and pancreatitus issues, I was told to try a Hydrolized brand. Is your product Hydolized

    this product is not hydrolyzed which means the proteins are broken down into smaller pieces to make it easier to digest.

How long is safe for this wet food to sit out in a food dish?

    I would think it depends on how sensitive your kitty is. I break a 3.5 oz can into three feedings a day so it isn’t sitting more than a few hours.

My cats adore Duck & Pea and it has been very good for them. Why does the price vary so much? The answer cannot be varying prices from the manufacturer/wholesaler. That doesn't make sense. All products have middlemen with little price fluctuation.
