Bought this duck & pea food to rule out an allergy in our cat. We suspected a chicken allergy due to itching, loose stools, and excess shedding, so we first replaced her original chicken-based foods with a chicken-free “Regional Red” variety from the same brand as well as a chicken-free wet food, but some symptoms were still there. So our next step was a limited-ingredient single protein food and we went with this Natural Balance duck and pea while keeping her wet food the same for now. She loves it and took to it right away. We mixed it in with her old food for a week to transition slowly but she just started picking around the old food and only eating this! Unfortunately the loose stool returned. We suspect she might have an overall poultry allergy, so we’re going to try the venison variety from this brand next. One con is that the kibble is a very small size. This may be a pro for some but since they’re small I feel like our cat just tends to swallow them without chewing so I hope it’s okay for her digestion! Bigger kibble at least made her chew a little more. Another potential con is the salt content. I noticed salt as an ingredient and thought it was odd since I rarely see that listed in cat foods, especially higher up in the ingredient list. Another reviewer mentioned their cat seeming to drink more water because of it and that was true with our cat as well. Our cat seems fine for now but after we try the venison flavor we’ll probably try to get her off of this brand and try another or start reintroducing other proteins based on how she does. If your cat has kidney issues I might avoid this or ask your vet first.

WE used to love it but its changed!! cats will barely look at it. GO back to original formula or quality. this seems to be issue with a lot of brands right now. maybe quality ingredients are not as easy to come by

We've been giving this to our cat for 7 years now, but since you changed the ingredients with this new formula she developed terrible gas. We had tried tapering it in slowly over a week, but had to return the bag. I'm very disappointed.

My cat loves this food a bag of food last us about 3 months and he has a full bowl in front of him all day/night

My cat’s going on 8 years old and she’s eaten this her whole life. She’s always had a soft coat, never had a hairball, and while she takes her time eating, she’s never shied away from her food ball when it was time to eat. If I ever got another cat after her, I’d probably stick with the same food.

My cat is allergic to chicken and corn; it is almost impossible to find food without those two ingredients. I chose Natural Balance L.I.D. Green Pea & Duck because it has good ingredients but is also economical compared to other chicken-free/corn-free cat food. My cat's stool used to be liquid but is now solid after a week of eating this food. He has been eating it for a year, however he is still not excited about the flavor but it is making him feel better.
