Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
Looking to get my dogs nails trimmed. Just not sure how he will do. They are pretty bad.
My pit bull bent a nail back exposing the quick I believe. What can I do to fix it
How do I care for my dogs broken nail?
I am looking for a place that will clip my dogs nails, they're very long and there fully black. He does not like getting them clipped but he is not aggressive in the slightest but I'm trying to find a place to get them clipped at instead of going to a vet office and also when the next vet clinic is at one of the nearest pet store probably get him microchipped as well but I didn't Kno if any place would do just nail clippings. My dog is about 5 years old and a very sweet boy!
Harvey's nails haven't been clipped in a long time, and I didn't know until recently the importance of regular clipping. Now I'm afraid to have them clipped because I recently learned that the quick grows out along with the nails, and I can't imagine the pain he would experience if a non-medical groomer tried. What can a vet do to help? Is there a procedure that can fix this?
My dogs nail broke and I was able to take it off. Her quick is exposed but not broken/bleeding. What should I do?
Dog's nail quick is exposed. It's been a day and he's limping (I have leftover pain meds that were prescribed to him from a previous surgery, so we can manage some pain). It's not a typical quick exposure as the outer nail has essentially been stripped off. Should I take him in and ask for surgical removal or just let it heal? Attached photo. His nails are normally all black. This is now a livid red.
I need help/advice regarding my dogs nails and trimming them. They seem to have been causing him some discomfort and I'm not sure what to do. Everytime I try to groom them he'll yelp in pain and I'm afraid that I'm hurting him. They seem very sensitive and I'm afraid I let them grow too long and it's hurting him. Thank you. Michal
I cut my dogs nail to short and worry that shes is bleeding too much
Both my dogs (lab mixes) freak when we take them to get their nails trimmed. What can we do it help them during this process?
I am watching a dog. It's nails are curled under like rams horns. It is not in the pads of their feet, but they make literal circles. Will the quick be as long as the nails as well? I am having trouble finding the quick
