Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
can i use dog nail clippers to cut my guinea pigs nails there over grown
Hi, I've had my guinea pigs for a few months now, and have read that I should be clipping their nails. I bought a nail clipper, but the guinea pigs won't let me get anywhere close with it. How do I go about trimming? Thank you!
My dog had the cover of his toenail removed 3 weeks ago exposing the quick. His doctor is on vacation until Monday. I change his dressing 2 to 3 times a day and use Hibitane cream to help the healing. He also had three small fractures in his paw there were removed. My question is should I keep changing the dressing and putting the cream on until I hear back from my doctor on January 7 Or should I keep the quick exposed to the air while he’s in the house? What can I do to help my Chihuahua back left paw dew claw that has growed into the skin and how much would it cost if I had to take him
My dog Zeus has recently developed a fear over getting his claws clipped, I have tried restraining and also letting him come to me on his own but he is just to afraid. I have contacted the local veterinarian hospital and they want to charge over $200. I have some training in veterinary assistance and am fully capable of trimming his nails myself. Is there an at home medication I can give him to do this myself? He is about 85 pounds. I also already have trazadone if that is a suggestion.
My dog broke his nail running on the ice and I noticed it bleeding a bit again today. It doesn’t seem to be hurting him but he doesn’t really want me to touch it. I’m not sure if I should bring him in or not.
hi there my dog has a swollen pay with a sore on his pinky nail and now getting sores on his leg can you help?
Good morning, My Chihuahua/Min-pin mix (Schlitzy) has been dragging his rear frequently for about 2-3 weeks. A week ago we had his anal glands expressed and the scooting cont'd. I bought an OTC fenbendazole dewormer, a 3 day course, last dose yesterday, yet the scooting is the same! He eats regularly, behaves regularly (other than scooting) and has stools that are solid. They are more more tan/orange-ish than brown and have had noticeable mucous strands. No vomit or diahrea. What else can I do?
Last night I trimmed my cat Ash's front paws, I noticed something wrong with one of his nails, and I dont know what caused this or what to do to treat it. He seems fine with it, but Ill catch him time to time chewing on it. Im just a concerned cat owner.
My dog is a maltese/poodle and about 6 yrs. old. He was a rescue from PetCo. We are not active people being in our 70's and have med. conditions but he sometimes gets a run but usually a mild walk. He has been chewing at his front legs to where they are discolored. At his last grooming his eyes became irritated from the eyebrows being shaved too close and he kept rubbing them so I washed them with a boric acid solution made for humans. They seem better but still have the hard gunk on the edges.
Hello, I have a 7 year old black lab. He's a big boy who gets very hot in warm weather so likes to lie on the coolest surface he can find which is always hard. Consequently, he has callouses on his elbows but they have become a lot bigger this year and one of them looks sore. I just wondered what Ii could do to alleviate this problem. Is there a spray or some product which could help? Thank you.Judith Burke
