This cage is too small. It does not allow enough bedding for hamsters to burrow (which is one of their natural instincts and is necessary). Hamsters need at least 600 square inches of space to live a good life that imitates the wild. While this cage is not the worst one ever, it’s still not quite big enough for a hamster. I recommend investing in a bin cage and if a premade wooden one is too much money, you could use a storage bin and replace the top with chicken wire for under $30. This will allow the hamster to have more bedding to burrow in, more accessories to keep busy with (like branches to climb on, chews, a good size wheel). Overall a bin cage would be the way to go in my opinion. Again this is just from my experience. I had a hamster in a small cage like this and that resulted in stress behaviors such as chewing on the cage, but once I upgraded to a larger cage, she was much happier

Even in the pictures it looks tiny! I'm so sorry for any hamster that has to live here. That wall doesn't look very fun. They could get stuck in there. And I'm sorry Gerbil123, although I do agree with you you appear t o have just bought pets without knowing thing one about them, shame on you. Anyway, if you want to buy this okay, but you really shouldn't. :(

First of all, most pet store cage recommendations are not very good. A hamster cage must be a 40 gallon tank or if you want something cheaper you could get a big bin. Don’t get this, I’ve heard a lot of people say they can’t get big cages because they’re too expensive, don’t buy these. It’s just animal abuse.

I got this for my guinea pig and Hamster they love it! You should get this for small pets. They are having so much fun in there new cage! I really don't get why they have bad ratings. It's not to small for my pets like other cages. I had for a week now, and everyone is happy! EVERYONE GO OUT AND BUY ONE!!

This was perfect for my hamster! I would say to get a bigger cage for larger hamsters because the weal is kind of small. But because my hamster is a dwarf hamster it was perfect. It’s easy to clean by taking of the plastic cleaning there then taking of the lock and dumping the bedding in the trash. I find it better to put bedding in the hideout that came with the cage. It lets them have a little place to sleep(or use the bathroom.) So overall I think this is a perfect cage.

It would work for a mouse IF you took out the wall, but then it wouldn't be any fun for him (don't keep female mice alone). You'd have to replace it with something else that fits there exactly, which would be very hard to find...just don't do it.
