Metacam Oral Suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) oral medication used to treat pain and inflammation in dogs. Meloxicam has been used in cats for osteoarthritis, pain and inflammatory conditions. Metacam works by inhibiting the cell's production of chemicals that trigger inflammation.

Metacam should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Try to give this medication at about the same time each day (preferably after or with a meal). To prevent accidental overdosing of small dogs, administer drops on food only, never directly into the mouth. Shake well. Measure liquid medication using the syringe provided with product.

Is Metacam Oral Suspension for dogs okay to give cats? I had a vet give me a bottle for dogs, for my cat - he said it was more concentrated? I’m just hesitant to give my cat anything for dogs. If it’s okay to give, should I adjust the dose lower as it’s more concentrated?

My rat got a pain killed it is liquid. It is called metacam. And he will not take it. We have hard it for 3 days and he has not really taken it we have try hold him and getting it in his mouth and on food but I don't like he is getting even a quarter of what he needs. I wondering if I could mix it will a liquid like plain ketchup or fruit juice so he will talk it.

Further to questions re: Tasha, my dog, with Osteo-arthritis in left rear Bone/hip, I read if you were to give too much of a Metacam pill, more than the prescribed dosage, it could cause a Seizure. If so, would the Seizure cause Death? She is presently on Tramadol - I am changing her to Metacam, very soon, as Tramadol doesn't help a bit!! She is still in a lot of pain! I read that Tramadol does not help for pain as previously stated, in the past.

She limps badly upon rising after laying down for 30 min. or so., after a minute or two, she can walk and/or run a bit. I understand they are hard on the dog's system - she is 5-1/2 yrs. old. - Collie/St. Bernard - 103 lbs. Will they cause advanced damage to her organs? What is the expected life expectancy for Tasha, taking Metacam Tablets daily?

For a large 5-1/2 yr. old dog, on Metacam tablets daily, for Osteo-arthritis, what is the expected life expectancy for her, on the Metacam? (She is 5-1/2 yrs. old.) Even with every 6 - 12 month blood exams? Will the Metacam shorten her life?
My dog Jellie age 9 has SLO that attack’s her nails. She takes tramadol for pain. On 10/11/18 she had two teeth pulled and some warts removed. She started metacam on 10/12/18 one time a day in the morning. She’s also on doxycycline And pentoxifylline for the SLO. Is it ok to give her the tramadol while she’s on the metacam?
Hi, My dog is 7 months old and is suffering from muscle soreness and stiffness. He has been like this for about 4 days now. On Monday the vet gave us Loxicom a 10 ml bottle for 5days and to give him one dose a day. But we really feel like the dose just isn’t enough. Could we possibly up the doseage? Many thanks, Nicola.
