I put this together myself, and it was super easy. The wood did not split for me (it feels light (look up the wood type before you buy) and I imagine it's easy to split when tightening) and everything was correctly aligned. I enjoy the compartment inside, and the carpet on the stairs seems to be enjoyed by cat #2 who jumps on and off it often. Cat #1 uses it too and sits on it just ad much. It's sturdy and did shift around on vinyl fooring until I added felt pads underneath. It's exactly as described and portrayed, and was a preferred option for me rather than the plastic or fully carpet counterparts.

Purchased 2 sets, and they are beautiful. Took about 30 minutes to assemble with simple picture instructions. Kitty's started using them immediately. Thank you Zoovilla for such a great product. They look nice.

Wood is rough to the touch, feels splintery. Top step pops off when my 8 pound dog jumps up onto it. Carpeting should cover more of the step. Screw holes were missing, just a few, but I used wood screws that with a little effort went right in without a drill. Very disappointed in lack of quality. Charge should be $19.99, not $50 +. I am returning mine.

The steps are the right height for my sofa, and my cats (some with special mobility needs) quickly learned how to use them. The wood splits very easily, so take care when screwing in the parts. The wood does not have a polished finish, which impacts negatively on appearance. Since I am using the steps in my living room, I was looking for steps with a better quality.
