When your dog does something that you do not like, you will be able to use the remote to make the first correction level go off on the collar. This will eventually train your dog that the behavior is not acceptable.

Most likely it will but try the beeps first. Mine was doing it to so I use Ceasar Milan method to calm the dog down by making her sit btw my feet/legs and rubbing chest. This brings their excitement level down. Just repeat as necessary.

While it is difficult to determine whether your dog is displaying aggression without actually seeing him during an episode, it does not sound like you are describing aggressive behaviors with your dog. Barking itself is not considered aggressive, unless it is accompanied by other aggressive behaviors such as snarling or lip curling and vocalizations such as growling. Lunging during walks is usually a result of your dog trying to chase the cars, squirrels, etc. and not being allowed to do so. Lunging could be a sign of aggression, but you mentioned that your dog is friendly when allowed to interact with other dogs. These are the types of unwanted behaviors that can be corrected with this type of product when there is no hint of underlying aggression. We would recommend that you record the behaviors your dog displays and show your veterinarian, behavior specialist, or certified dog trainer. They could help you accurately determine if your dog is exhibiting any type of aggressive behavior such as territorial aggression, dominance aggression, or fear aggression. There are subtle cues that dogs will exhibit with different types of aggression such as body posture, ear and tail positions, pupil size, eye contact, etc. Someone trained in this area would look for these subtle cues and will be able to differentiate between an excited dog and an aggressive dog. Thanks for answering my question - but I've no idea what you mean; the 2 sentences you wrote seem contradictory. Are you saying that it does NOT shut off after 10 minutes and that reviewer that said it does must have a faulty product?

I would go strictly by the instructions due to his age rather than his weight.

I have a different collar, and mine also has a auto shut-off - but it is only for the remote -- the collar portion stays turned on with a motion sensor (probably a little ball bearing system inside the collar). My remote turns off after just 2 minutes, and you have to hit a button to turn it back on -- if it stays turned off for an extended period of time, you have to hold a button for 5 whole seconds to get it to turn on, it can be frustrating. Again -- please remember that I am speaking about a different brand of collar (Esky), but I would assume that similar features would apply and that the collar portion would not turn off automatically while in motion.
