Merrick Purrfect Bistro cat food provides a quality, 100% nutritionally complete and balanced diet. Please have clean, fresh water available at all times. Serve at room temperature. We understand that every cat is different and that optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, activity level and environment. 3 oz. can: When fed alone to adults, feed 2 cans per 6.5 lbs. of body weight per day, for kittens up to twice this amount and for pregnant or lactating mothers up to three times this amount. For combination feeding, reduce 1/4 cup dry for every 1 can wet. 5.5 oz. can: When fed alone to adults, feed 1 can per 5.5 lbs. of body weight per day, for kittens up to twice this amount and for pregnant or lactating mothers up to three times this amount. I noticed this flavor has Carrageenan, I thought this ingredient was bad for animals? Can you tell me why you added it? I’m trying to find a wet chicken food without it and Your chicken diet meal doesn’t have this ingredient But she’s not needing diet

What is the magnesium percent in this food? Would this be a good food source for cats with urinary tract crystals?
- Magnesium % is not listed on the product. You'd need to contact Wellness. Canned/wet food is better for cats because dried can cause or exacerbate UTI's. My cat had an ongoing UTI problem. I use Only Natural Pet Cranberry Wellness powder after trying all the Vet options without success. This has helped her. She loves the tiny tasters pouch and I mix in extra water and the cranberry powder.

What does "for complementary feeding" mean? Is this food not balanced so as to be able to be the sole source of nutrition?
