Using the chart on the back of the package, divide the total cups per day by the total number of times you feed your dog per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use the information below as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed. Dry and wet food in combination will help to increase the level of water in your dog's diet. If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/2 cup for every 6 oz. of wet food. I am getting an 8 week Cocker Spaniel. I am not new to Cocker Spaniel, just puppy versions. I want to try a new food for her, and need suggestions. I did research & came across these dry foods: Merrick Grain Free Real Salmon+Sweet Potato, Merrick Limited Ingredient Grain Free Real Salmon+Sweet Potato, Taste of Wild Pacific Stream Grain Free Smoked Salmon, Taste of Wild Appalachian Valley Small Bree’s Grain after Roasted Venison. Are any of those good, if so which one? Want to stay chicken free.
I am considering transitioning my puppy from hills science to merrick grain free dry dog food. Is merrick a good brand? What are the benefits of grain free dry dog food? What are the differences in feeding a dog salmon Vs chicken vs lamb vs duck?
We currently feed Rex Merrick brand salmon and sweet potato dry and he has had no problems with it but had read something that Purina had bought Merrick and there is some question about the now quality of the food that they may have changed the ingredients. Do you have any information about the quality decreasing or a reason we should change foods? Or have a brand you recommend as a back up option?
I bought my dog Rachel Ray grain free salmon dry food, unfortunately he was allergic to it. I also bought him nature's recipe salmon grain free dry food and he is always thirsty. I don't know what else to buy him. Which food do you reccomend?
I have recently adopted a dog. He is a mixed breed-shepard. At 6 months he weighed 50 pounds and he is currently going on 8 months old. I’ve been feeding him the Merrick grain free puppy beef and sweet potato all breed food. The kibble is small. He is getting 4 cups a day. He’s still skinny and eats it quickly. is there a more suited food for him? And when should I transition him to adult food?

I know that grain free has speculation, but it seems like every vet has a different opinion on it, there are also very few foods on the shelves that have grain. Can I add rice to a grain free food to help add healthy grains to his diet? I just started him on the dog food attached below. He has environmental allergies so I put him on a fish food diet. Is there a kind of food you would recommend?
Bought purina one lamb and rice. Concerned on an ingredient. Chicken by product meal? Was taught bad for dogs and can be diesed animals. Mixing with 80 to 20 ratio of food the 80 percent is pure Balance trout and lentils grain free. But some of you say grains are good and they don’t have an allegry as they eat grained dog treats and Cheerios with no problems. Plus this food had real meat chucks and wanted to train them to eat dry food only. Thanks!
I feed my dogs Pure Balance Trout + Lentils (has probitics) mixed with Purina One Beyond Small Bites Lamb and Rice(has the joint support in it as well so that’s nice!) . Can you take a look at the ingredients? They don’t have any grain allergies as they tolerate Cheerios as their training treats but I liked Pure Balances Ingredients and the Purina One has not as well but they eat the food readily with the better brand and plus has free joint supplement in it. Thank you for your opinions on them
I read that grain free foods are leading to heart disease. We feed our dog Merrick Grain Free. What to do?
Due to the recent FDA research on grain free food I am looking into switching my Shih Tzu/Maltese mix from Whole Earth farms grain free to something different. What would you recommend is a good, healthy brand for a small breed dog who is 4 and does not have any health issues. Thank you
Years ago the vet recommended grain free food. A few months ago after news talked about grain free food being bad for the heart, we switched from Fromm Salmon Tunalini Grain Free to Coast + Range Beef with brown rice. I thought the ingredients in C+R seemed good, but for the last 6-8 weeks, his groin has been puffy/saggy. He's also gassy & not excited to eat lately. The vet did not feel anything unusual inside. Could this be from the brown rice? Thoughts on the food? Recommendations? Thank you!
