- No. It’s not soft. You could add warm water but not too much. My dog likes it that way.

Hello... We've been feeding our border collie Merrick, Back Country, grain free with freeze dried beef. We are looking for a senior dog food with good quality protein and lower levels of phosphorus. Would this be a good product to switch him to?
- It should be. Protein levels are 32%, quite high for a "senior" food. I can't speak as to phosphorus levels.

She is not eating the Natural chicken and sweet potato cans I ordered. She is almost 14 years old. I have tried most of the Senior diet but the chicken and barley makes her belly bloat. She eats canned but due to several teeth removed cannot eat dry. She is a dachshund of normal weight and good health. She is still an active walker.

We currently feed Rex Merrick brand salmon and sweet potato dry and he has had no problems with it but had read something that Purina had bought Merrick and there is some question about the now quality of the food that they may have changed the ingredients.
