MERRICK makes great Dog foods. I recently bought MERRICK GRAIN FREE REAL CHICKEN & SWEET POTATO RECIPE SENIOR DRY DOG FOOD, which LUCY, my 8-year old mixed breed dog enjoys. But, I have been trying to get the HEALTHY GRAINS MERRICK SENIOR DRY DOG FOOD for weeks now (which Lucy seems to enjoy even more) and store is out of it. Lucy's VET recommended that hard Dog food with HEALTHY GRAINS is much better for her than Grain Free!

Unfortunately as others have said, my Labrador Retriever would not touch this food. Also of note the kibble is extremely small. Too small for a large dog. Luckily I was able to return it at Petco and bought Halo Large Breed instead. My Lab loves it. Can't recommend this food if my dog won't touch it.

We've been feeding our American Pitbull Terrier Merrick Grain Free dry dog food since he was a puppy. He is now a healthy nine years old, which his age only shows on his chin with his white hairs. He is strong, agile, and allergy-free! We love Merrick Grain Free food!

Not "the best" if my dog won't touch it

My senior dog didn't like it. I've tried adding broth, then some canned stew and she wouldn't touch it, only eats around it. I thought she might have not been feeling well, so I kept trying each week trying to slowly change brands. Then I put Merrick and another brand side by side in her dish, instead of mixing them, and she only ate the other brand's kibble. So something was wrong with the product bc all these 5 star reviews raving about it yet my dog wouldn't touch it. The store wouldn't accept my return because it was 32 days past the order date, regardless of the holidays. This was my first time trying Petco and Merrick brand. I thought it was great that free delivery was provided when I purchased, yet realized next day my debit charge was more. Delivery was NOT free and somehow at checkout a $7 tip was added for delivery. So watch for this sneak at checkout bc I tested it and there is a box automatically checked to tip. Why tip delivery that just leaves it at your door unannounced, in the rain, NOT packaged in any bag or cover..I don't tip UPS to do the same, but at least my items are in a protective package! Not impressed at all with my first and last experience at Petco.

Hello... We've been feeding our border collie Merrick, Back Country, grain free with freeze dried beef. We are looking for a senior dog food with good quality protein and lower levels of phosphorus. Would this be a good product to switch him to?
