Too expensive

I've got two shepherd mix rescues around 3 years old. Currently transitioning from Merrick Red Recipe (2x the price) to Pro Plan beef shreds. My lawn always dies from pee and the dogs poops are never very firm so I'm trying to get to a more "correct" protein ratio with the pro plan. On transitioning this time I segregate it in their bowls (I always used to mix when transitioning). I've noticed that they eat the pro plan before the merrick. Not sure if it's because they truly like it more or it's the novelty of something new. We'll see how the dogs do the next 3 months on the pro plan. After 2 years on Merrick I think we are probably done with the excessive price (second dog was recently added and has a much higher metabolism $$). Not to mention getting a bag with zero freeze dried pieces. Contacted manufacturer with lot info and they did nothing.

I began feeding Merrick Foods when my two small dogs started refusing to eat Blue Buffalo. I looked at the ingredients and am impressed with the raw infused diets without grains. They have now been eating it consistently for several months and do not seem to get tired of the flavor. Their appetites have improved and their stool sample have become firmer and less frequent. Their coats are shiny and healthy with no dry skin or itchiness. I love it. If you would ever need an affiliate to represent your brand on social media, I would definitely be interested.

My dog absolutely loves Merrick dog food, especially the raw infused. He eats his dog food without me having to put anything extra in it which is amazing. I see amazing changes in my dogs, coat skin and body and absolutely love it. I will recommend it all day.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This food has become EXTREMELY inconsistent over the past 6 years. At first you could get a 22lb bag roughly $70. Then they cut the size to 20lb and kept the price. Then they started shrinking the freeze dried meat, and ultimately today in January 2024, it's nearly $85 for a 20lb bag and there is nearly no freeze dried pieces. Merrick is having supplier issues as you cannot find the Great Plains recipe at Petco, Petsmart, Chewey or Amazon. Something weird is going on, and aside from the recent investigation into Merrick being linked to heart problems, Im not comfortable putting my dog at risk of more poor management decisions. I used to preach this brand and recipe to everyone (check my order history!! One bag a month for YEARS!) but now I'd nut punch the entire C-Suite.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Very little raw pieces included

The 4 lb bag I bought had FOUR pieces of the raw food in it. My dog likes this food, but it’s very expensive because of the raw pieces that aren’t even in there.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Everytime we get this food it’s always top shelf quality, no complaints and been buying it for YEARS , always fresh, and plenty of the raw bits- some say theirs didn’t but Petco will replace your food if you take it back- our Pitties have done great on this food.

Yes, I recommend this product.
