This is not worth the money, when sassy( my ferret) tries to climb inside it just tumbles over and closes in, you know how ferrets like to climb over in top of things!!!!! Well this one is not for that!!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice......BUT......

My ferret loves to roll the balls around. And then she likes to sink her teeth into the plastic, then precedes to destroy the balls. I have already had to throw out 3 balls because she punctured them and then flatten them. If the balls were made from a little better plastic, not so thin, I'd say she would really enjoy plating with them.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Could hamsters play in this?

  1. A hamster would almost certainly chew the fabric of the pit to pieces if given the chance. While they do like to burrow around, I suspect they wouldn't like to do so in a pile of slick, plastic balls and may find it distressing. My sugar gliders love a ball pit, but they play very differently than hammies and have opposable thumbs - the point of their ball pit is to dig around for the toys and treat chests buried in it. That said, I never offered a ball pit to any of my hamsters when I had them... and even animals of the same species have different preferences when it comes to toys (for example, a very adventurous/outgoing hamster might like something that a timid one shys away from). If you wanted to give the ball pit idea a try, my suggestion would be to purchase some ping-pong balls and put them in a cardboard box with one or more doorways cut in it. That way, the balls would be smaller and the container could be replaced easily after it got chewed on, peed on, etc.

Rat?

  1. The 11" (largest) wheel is just right for rats. I just purchased one and have bought ones comparable in size before, for my ratties. It will work just fine. And no, it does not come with a tube. It is just the wheel with the freestanding base. The base does come off and can be mounted to the side of the cage , which is what I decided to do, but you will need a wrench and a set of pliers in order to do that. It does not come apart easily.

If the balls fall on a floor, are they noisy? What are they made of? Could a person slip on them?

  1. No the balls does not make a sound as of a omg loud sound. If you have hardwood floors as I do it would be like a pencil dropping my 5 year old plays with the balls and ferret all the time she throws them and it’s not loud.

Are these good for Hedgehogs?

  1. You could try this with your hedgehog. If your hedgehog doesn't like it, you will see by his body language and facial expression. I try different things with my chinchillas and degus. Some work, some don't. I just give it to a ferret rescue, if it is safe for them to use it, if your hedgehog doesn't like it.

Do you recommend this for a rabbit?

  1. Each bunny is different; some love all kinds of toys (like my Pico) and doesn't discriminate--lol--but other bunnies are fickle. As for a bunny not knowing what to do with the balls (per what the one person claimed)--not true. My bunnies play with EVERYTHING. In fact, I made something similar to this a long time ago, and they had fun with it no differently than any other species. It really is a hit or miss, though, as again, each bunny has a different personality regarding toys. If you decide to get it, and your bunny doesn't care for the balls, then just remove them and put crumpled newspaper in there; we all know bunnies love that! My only concern would be what the other poster noted, in regards to the weight of your bunny. Being a hefty nine pounds might just squish the balls (depending on their resiliency) and not be much fun for your bun. Plus, with her size--not just her weight--she might not even be able to fit into the entry holes, let alone wiggle around much within the cube. I'd say this toy is more for a dwarf rabbit under 4 lbs.

Could I use this for guinea pigs

  1. Depending on how "Chubby" your guinea pig is, he might not be able to fit through the holes to exit the ball pit.

Do the balls fit through the holes?

  1. The balls do fit through the holes. However, they are too slick for my ferrets to grab a hold of, but they end up playing/kicking them out of the holes. Not a lot of them, but a couple end up outside the box.
