My ferret is less than 4 months old and has a harsh dry cough, is eating less and gaining a decent amount of weight. I've done some reading and I think she may be consitpated or have a hairball. Is it safe to give her a very small portion of mineral oil rather than petroleum jelly or FerretLax?
My ferret Puck has a very bad smell to him. I know ferrets have a musky smell, which never has really been an issue because of how clean I keep them and their cage. My 3 girls have almost no odor to them, and my other boy has a slight odor. Puck has a weird strong onion odor. It will vary from how bad it smells, but it's usually bad. If I touch him my hand or clothes will smell like an onion. Is this normal?
Ferret stool is completely runny not tubular and extremely odoriferous. I think she poos about once every two hours and I never see her urinate. It is a light yellowish brown stool. She does not act as if she is in any discomfort. But the smell... I have to clean it at the minimum of every 12 hours or less. Just awful. It wasn't always like this. It is a new development and seems to be getting worse.
