The Maldives McCosker's Flasher Wrasse has exquisite coloration, hardiness and high activity levels that make them very desirable in the aquarium hobby. When beginning a new aquarium, the McCosker's Wrasse can live in groups and should be the fish added last because they tend to be harassed by other fish, and the female should be added before the males for the same reason. Males are slightly larger and females are paler. Their color will deepen and flash during courtship. The aquarium should have a tight-fitting lid because they are known to jump out. Their diet should include frozen meaty foods like brine shrimp, marine pellets and flakes. On occasion a seaweed strip should be added to add variety to their diet. This wrasse has a high metabolism so they should be fed several small meals rather than two large meals a day. They have a small adult size of 3". Their coloration depends on which ocean they are collected from.

ACCLIMATION: Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. For new aquariums, adding new fish slowly helps to properly develop the nitrogen cycle, which creates a safe environment for your aquatic pets. A bacteria booster may also help develop a new aquarium for your new fish. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried, and frozen food, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller, unfiltered aquariums.
