I ended up taking this back. I thought it would work well with my cats, but the tines are entirely too large and there's too much space between them. This grooming tool would probably work best with a larger dog.

    It does not trim the length of the hair, but it does go through knots with less tugging. It clears out matted under-hair for a smoother coat.
