[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. Something to think about for someone looking for a future purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked that o could put both dogs together in one crate to travel rather than taking two separate ones. It fit well in the back of the SUV. Also having two doors made it easier getting them in and out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This crate has some great features. The sliding door is good for avoiding quick escapes from the dog when you're trying to keep him in. It went up quite quickly, and is very sturdy. Good size for almost any small to large dog, without being too confining. Its heft and good construction makes it a good, secure retreat for your pet. Recommend highly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely pleased with this double door metal crate. There is one door in the front and another on the side making this very convenient. The crate is made of a very sturdy metal and comes with an optional divider to reduce or enlarge the living space. Initially I used it to make two spaces, one for my pet and the other to store misc pet items. Although now my cocker spaniel recently had 9 puppies and this is a great way to keep them together so they don’t wander off and mom can feed them. Mom and pups are enjoying their new home. The bottom tray is very durable and easy to remove for cleaning. A great feature is that it folds easily to store away and perfect for traveling.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great crate for a growing puppy. It is well constructed and easy to set up. It's basically a pop-up design. There are four plastic corners that you pop in the top, which secures it. Sturdy, yet it's lightweight and easy to move. There's a divider that comes with it, as your dog grows so can your crate. I like the sliding doors on the side. They give ease of entry without taking up space. We now have a worry free place and Buddy has his own space.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this dog crate to keep my schnauzer out of trouble. It came folded in an outer box so it wasn't so awkward. Getting the crate assembled was pretty easy once I discovered the clips that kept the crate flat. The instruction book was inside the folded up crate, and it was a little difficult to get hold of before you got it open. The crate is great though! Very sturdy & lots of room for my dog to relax. The sliding doors made it easy for my dog to get in & out. I recommend this crate for any dogs.

Can you put two together so that the sides open up to each other for more space for two trained dogs? Obviously would have to zip tie them together or something. Are the door sides interchangeable so then the fronts are both facing the same direction?

  1. Hello, Although not recommended, you could a place two crates with the doors open up to each other no recommendations on hardware or zip ties to attach due to liability. No, the end doors would be facing opposite directions. Thanks!

This might be a weird question, but if a piece of wood is placed on top of this, how much weight do you think can be placed on the top of the crate? I want to place something above the crate and use it as a shelf almost.

  1. We haven't tested it for how much weight can be placed on top. Having said that, the 54" crate has a very large span on top and is unlikely to hold much weight without potentially collapsing. I wouldn't recommend using it as a shelf.
