I purchased the 10 oz crock. With it's narrow and deep profile, it is ideal for a small crate. Unfortunately, the locking mechanism is plastic and broke after only two days. I think this is a fatal flaw in the product. If they made it with metal, it would be much more durable. Staff at the store shared that this was a common complaint about this product. It really is too bad. I will likely get another Midwest Snapy bowl instead. I use that in my larger crate. Poochie will have less space though.

The attachment lasted us about 1 hour. I tried to put vinegar on it as a deterrent but it wasn’t enough. Don’t get this if you have a strong chewer. I’ve had it in the past for a corgi but our current German shepherd annihilated it.

The bowl would not easily twist and come off even when it was lined up perfectly. The bowl ended up breaking off. I never even got to use it. Great in theory, but probably manufactured wrong. 😢

Even though it was designed to be able to twist and lift out the dish. Was not able to do that due to the fittings being too wide. Do not want to detach from the kennel when needing to only rinse out the bowl.

Not durable for big dogs, gray pieces just snapped in lots of little pieces! Was destroyed in seconds after she jumped up on it.

SUMMARY: 5-Star product since 2011, then suddenly 1-star product in 2022. New manufacturing issue causes the bowl not to release from the bracket mount. BACKSTORY: I have used 4 of these bowls on a daily basis connected to an 8-foot x 6-foot silver metal ex-pen for 10 years for my rabbits. I considered this product as excellent! They never rusted, they locked into place so my rabbits couldn't tip them over, and they twisted off for cleaning with complete ease! This is no longer the case. I purchased 3 more in May 2022 that twist and lock, but they do not release from the mount as they should. I took them back to Petco with my receipt to exchange them, but they said I couldn't because it had been more than 30-days and told me to contact the manufacturer. I just let it go because I was so upset. I repurchased the 3 bowls in December 2022 hoping the manufacturing issue would have been resolved, but it had not. I was treated very poorly by Petco in-person so I called the 877#. Petco is sending 3 more, so now I will have 9 new ones in 2022 and I have no idea if those will even work. I also emailed the manufacturer and haven't heard back. I wish the manufacturer would resolve this issue because these USED TO BE a top-notch product! I see others reviewers, like @ "Nikki275" reviewed a month ago, that have had the same issue so I know I am not alone.

I bought multiples of this item for my kennel and they are horribly made. The top piece won’t fit into the bottom piece, if it does, it’s almost impossible to twist off. Then the black piece attached to the bowl breaks off easily as well. They used to be made well and now all of them are junk and I have to take the whole thing off the cage to clean it. I thought I had a bad batch, but I ordered 20. ( Both in store and online) Only 2 were good. I attempted to return the remainder to the store and they would not take them back. I attempted to call Lixit and could not contact anyone from the number provided on the product. Overall extremely unsatisfied.

I purchased this for my puppy when I leave her in the crate sometimes during the day. Was going to get the upside down bottle but wasn’t sure if it would leak or if she could figure it out!
