GPS not strong enough when dog in woods

Khopkin1

I bought this a month ago as my golden Retreiver tends to run off when I am at my cabin. The GPS is only updating when dog is out on open but never shows when she is in woods. This is a significant gap for me. That also means that it can never give a tone or vibrate when in woods.

I’ve only used it once. At first it was difficult to follow. There are 3 f do dots; the home dot, you dot, and dog dot. But it did take me to my dog!! Happy with it with that.

Dies so fast

I've been using this for about a month, I'm still in the 30 day trial. I haven't had to use it for emergencies but tracking seems to work when I test it. That being said the battery lasts 2 to 3 days if you don't remember to charge it every single day. I was planning on bringing it camping and backpacking but It most likely would die and be useless if needed. Around my 2 week mark I came back from a hike and noticed a small hairline crack. This was a Christmas gift, wish I had known because I would have suggested a different brand.

Poor tracking or not able to track at all.

While there we went out after they called and after sending Little Bear out off her leader and letting her track, I kept trying to bring her up on the tracking app and error messages kept popping up over and over, after 4 hours out in the cold near 33 degrees she had found them and if it wasn't for her very loud bark we never would have been able to find them before the weather and their health changed and it would have taken even longer than they were actually found. I hope that they check out these problems before winter really starts. Lives were in the balance and the next time may be a worse situation.

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We were able to pull up Little Bear's previous activity and there were no tracking sessions actually launched/ initiated. On Android devices you would just need to dismiss the error and tap "Track my dog" when your dog is in an "away" state to see those tracking updates you were wanting to see. If you'd ever like to reconsider the system to meet your needs, we'd be happy to walk through the set up and functionality with you to ensure you're prepped and ready to use the features you need when the time comes!

Very helpful

I primarily purchased this to help with training my super stubborn Daschund with her incessant barking issue. Within one day, after using the Vibrate option and telling her no, she is 100% better. All I have to do is pick up my phone and say "no" and she stops barking. It's a miracle.

I bought this for my dog as we hike off- leash frequently and we have had scary episodes where she took off chasing an animal and got lost on her way back to the trail to find me. Unfortunately this product did not work in any use case: - on a hike with low signal (did not work) - on a hike with good signal ( kept saying tracking would not work when the dog was with me, even tho she was no way to be found) - in an urban area with good signal (took 30mins+ to update location). - in an urban area where I knew exactly where she was (apparently the gps doesn't work when the dog is inside a building). So, there was not a single use case that made this purchase worth it in any way. Would not recommend.

perfect besides one small annoying thing

this device does not disappoint! i was expecting a tracker, but you get so much more! you get notified when your pet leaves, it has a flashlight connected, it has a positive tone sound and a vibration correction sound, it is amazing. the only downside is that sometimes i get notifications that my pet has left home, even if they aren’t wearing it, and it is fully charged. but that is easy to ignore:)

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Link experience! We're so happy to hear that you've loving all of the features. With the away alerts - those essentially tell you the device is ready to track if it needs to. The device is constantly looking for the best possible form of connection and when it transitions from one connection type or state to another, you may sometimes receive the notifications that it's ready to track. You can also take a look at your Profile > Away Alert Settings & consider adjusting the sensitivity there if that's something you'd like to check out!
