I think there's a trick to these.

Note the 5 stars! I'm going to explain why I think this thing isn't working for some of you (and one of mine), but why I'm still a fan. I think the trouble folks are having is that this is not the strongest smelling catnip, especially the outer layer. How could it be? It's dried, compressed and oxidized. Second, different cats take to catnip in different ways. I bought two of these. One for my American medium-hair (AMH), who loves catnip when she's in it but doesn't just run to it because it's out. I put that one in her hiding spot and after a few days I could tell that she had started licking it. Now she's wild about it. The other I bought for my Russian Blue (RB). If you cover her up in catnip and act like you aren't watching she will eventually get into it. But she's way too cool to allow anyone to see her having a good time, so she generally acts like she doesn't care about even the freshest. I gave up on RB and tried to give her catnip ball to AMH. AMH has thoroughly destroyed her original catnip ball, but refuses to touch RB's discarded one. My take is that RB's ball smells like RB and RB and AMH live together under under truce, not true love. If your cat doesn't go for the ball immediately, I think it's a matter of making it smell like them or priming it with a little catnip spray so they get the idea. Matter of fact, I'm going to get another and try again with RB and the spray (plus I'll leave it in her spot like I did the last one). Even if she just tolerates it, the science seems to say it's doing her good.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Cats LOVE this! Larger than a golf ball.

My cats absolutely love this! They don't lick it, but they kick it around the room until it gets lost somewhere. It's a little larger than a golf ball, so it doesn't get lost under some furniture/in some corners like a smaller one that's lost somewhere around here. If I find it, they stop what they're doing and chase and kick it around. Great exercise! I have this on repeat delivery so when they lose one, it's not too long before they'll get another one. Also, I like that it's catnip, so it's not attracting any bugs or critters when they lose it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I got this for my cat and he managed to break it up into small parts and eat some of it before I took it away. Is this toy safe for consumption??

  1. Absolutely. It's just catnip and natural or food grade gum compressed together. If your cat haven't broken it appart he'd have licked it down until it fell apart.

Can you open the ball to refresh the catnip?

  1. Hi Little Dandylion, No, this is compressed catnip. Thanks,

Where is this product made?

  1. Hi Smg1737, It is made in China, Thanks,
