Today was my kittens first time getting to play with this toy and half of the feathers are already ripped out. It’s a very cute toy but not durable at all and I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have bought 3-5 of these every year to 18 months since i got my cats 3.5 years ago. I first got them years ago for my aging cat to keep her active, and she LOVED them. In the years since, sometimes they are great, and other times not so wonderful (in my last order i had one where the feathers came out with the very first tug in a giant clump, and i had to glue them back in with gorilla glue and hot glue to get any use from the toy at all). They are always a hit, but can be super hit or miss with quality. This inconsitency is the reason for my mid-range rating. For fun and engagement rating: 5 Stars. For quality and consistency: 1-2 stars. If you don't have a hot glue gun or some superglue, just keep that in mind. I've also had them arrive bent from being shipped in a box that just wasn't quite large enough, so the feathers were all bent to the sides and the wants were curved and could not be straightened. Luckily, Petco's customer service agents made that right for me and sent me some usable toys for my cats!

Bought the Black and Red one for my babies, they absolutely loved it, but managed to pull out one of the red feathers and it ended up in their water bowl, it was in there for only a minute or 2, and it dyed the water red, that can't be good for our animal to ingest, and it seems like it would do the same in their mouth while playing with it :(

After one days use playing with kitten half of all the feathers came out.

I volunteer at a local animal shelter taking photos of new cats for their web site. I see between 5-20 new cats every week, and have been doing this for over 5 years. I use this wand to try to get cats attention and get them to look at my camera (cats don't seem to like just looking at the lens). The wand works for some cats, but not for others. All cats are different. A lot of cats love feather toys, but others do not. Some like a little stuffed bird on a string, others like strings, others like socks stuffed with catnip, or socks that make crinkly noises. The shelter has a number of different toys in the room I use. Some cats even just go up to the toy box and pick out the toy they like best. They are individuals just like people. If a cat does not like this wand, it is not the fault of the wand -- it's just a cat that doesn't really care for feathers. Also, the wand does not last forever. I need to order new wands every few months after a particularly play-aggressive cat tears one apart in their fun of playing with it. Most cats just bat at it and grab it, but a few will grab it and tear the feathers out. I'm not sure what a manufacturer could do to prevent that -- feathers aren't indestructible. Overall, this is a great wand and works well with cats that like feathers. You may have to try a few different toys, though, before you find a toy your cat likes.

The cats absolutely love these. We put in laundry room when not using and they try to steal as soon as door is open. Beed to be better made so can't rip off feathers so quickly though.

This toy has lasted over a full year! It’s only 18” so I keep it by the couch to distract my cat when he’s on my lap and starts biting me. Some of the feathers have fallen (been pulled) out or broken off but there’s still a couple left and the bell is still attached. I couldn’t find another one locally, so I came online and yes! I can still get one!

Within a week my one year old cat destroyed the wand by tearing the feathers out. I am just thankful I got this on sale.
