Electrolyte Solutions work to restore proper balance of electrolytes (sodium, chloride, potassium, etc.) in the body, so that important actions like muscle contraction and nerve activity can take place. They also supply additional water that the body needs when oral fluid intake is not sufficient.

My dog has kidney disease. She's 60 pounds. How much ml fluids should she get in one session? Is 1000 every other day too much?
My dog is on lasix for fluid around his heart. Is there any electrolyte replacement beverage formulated specifically for dogs? I am not interested in the i.v. bags.
My cat Lilly isn't drinking enough water. She went to the vet for severe dehydration. She is on doxycycline, Amoxi Clav K+ Suspension, Mirtazapine, PancrePlus, and is getting Lactated Ringers subdermal. She absorbs the LR in a couple hours and she is eating voraciously (wet food) but I don't see her consuming very much water. The antibiotics are for a persistent URI. Could this be due to a chronic condition? Im worried that when her meds run out that she will get ill again. Suggestions?
Is it possible to insert a catheter subcutaneously to administer lactated ringer‘s twice a week so that I don’t have to insert a new needle twice a week to deliver them. My Pugapoo is 12 years old, blind, and diabetic. I know how to insert a needle but, it’s difficult and heart-wrenching. And, I can’t afford to continuously take him to a vet for such a minor activity. Years ago I myself had to have a port inserted for intravenous administration of antibiotics. He’s indoors and pretty sedentary.
Can I use this saline contact rinse solution for my mouses eye drops? It is a sterile, isotonic buffered saline solution that contains boric acid, sodium borate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride preserved with polyaminopropyl biguanide (0.00003%) and edetate disodium (0.025%). It is not a disinfectant. I was recommended to use saline, but I am not sure if these ingredients are safe. If not, do you have a recommendation?
I give sub q fluids to my crf dog. I gave her her usual 1000ml today at about 3:00pm it's 9:30 now. I was just playing with her and noticed she seems to have a little fluid still by her armpit. Should it have dissolved by now, do I need to take her to a vet to be seen?
I have leftover Saline Pre-Filled USP IV Flush Syringes of 0.9 Sodium Chloride Injections. Can I administer these subcutaneously to my puppies as a pick me up when they’re a little dehydrated ? Will it do more harm than good ? I have experience in administering SubQ fluids and have sterile needles and syringes left but wanted to be reassured that these fluids are good for subq and aren’t harmful ?
Doctor can I use this Rx Cefpirome injection IP (Cefor 1g) on my dog here Creatinine 15.20 ?
Can the injectable albon be used orally?
Vet has me giving my dog artificial tears solution polyvinyl alcohol 1.4%. It looks like the brand has discontinued it or has a shortage. What should I look for when deciding on a new artificial tear? I can’t find one with the polyvinyl alcohol. (Also taking tacrolite)
I have a 13 yr old cat, weight 10 lbs., diagnosed in 2016 with CRF. Creatinine 313. Potassium 3.7., 150mls Lactated ringers 3x week. Would potassium supplementation help with her low energy level? My vet is reluctant to add potassium to her meds. because it is difficult to adjust. Should I be seeking a second opinion?
My cat is suffering from CKD and anemia my vet recommended jectosol injections 1ml for 3 days, can I use the remaining jectosol injection from broken ampule in the next day if packed at the same time or after 1st use the ampules are not safe to use ?These injections are not affecting much so what should I do? And please do let me know that how long can I give royal canine renal diet to my cat,it's been 4-5 months already but he eat other stuff as well as sometimes he refused to eat renal diet.
