Description

One of Kurgo's original harness designs, the Tru Fit Smart Harness with quick release buckles is still popular today. The easy on and off design slips over your dog head and secure with two quick release buckles. The padded chest piece reduces stress on the trachea and sternum, and there are two leash attachments - one on the chest and a second on the back. Five adjustment points mean you can find a near-custom fit for just about any dog. We've included a 10" tether to secure the dog in the car to prevent distracted driving.

  • - EVERYDAY DOG HARNESS: Comfortable, lightweight walking harness with five easy adjustable points and plastic quick release buckles to make it easy to take on and take off when on the go. Suitable for walking or jogging

  • - INCLUDES DOG SEATBELT: Comes with dog seat Belt 10-inch tether that can be used during car travel as a pet seatbelt to restrain dog and prevent distracted driving: or as a training tether. Harness is not crash tested

Great harness. Easy to use.

I first purchased a Sleepypod harness which is a lot more money based on reviews. I did not like it at all. I returned it. You put the seatbelt through the side straps. I feel that if we get into a crash the seatbelt would apply pressure to his back. Also a pain if your seat belt locks after being pulled out some. You can't buckle it then. The Kurgo has the 10 inch strap with carabiner which works much better. It also has steel buckles which I believe is much better than plastic. My pup is a 50 lb Australian Shepherd.

Second harness

I realized after 10 years that my dog's original black version of this had rusted chest plate snaps. It had served her and her late sister/mother figure well and was due for retirement. Bought this to replace it so my female would finally have her own harness instead of a hand me down. Love these harnesses as they keep my large dogs safe in the car and keep them out of my front seat when combined with the direct to seatbelt tether!

This is a great harness. We have owned same harness for other dog for about 6 years and purchased this one for a new larger dog, works great and is secure with metal parts that hold up over time.

Love the harness, but Lucy ate through the strap that connects to the seat belt in a few days! Will be contacting you to order another strap.

We're sorry to hear Lucy damaged her tether! Though these tethers are very sturdy, just as with many other high tensile materials, they can become damaged by teeth. We would recommend monitoring Lucy closely while acclimating her to being tethered in the car; this way any attempt to place her mouth on the tether can be redirected until she learns not to chew the tether. If you have any questions while working with her or there's anything else we can help you with, please contact us! Best harness for my high energy dog

We’ve tried several different harnesses for our high energy Border Collie Australian Cattle Dog mix. Although this harness is pretty bare bones, it seems to be the one that she finds most comfortable. She doesn’t stop to scratch or try to adjust it mid way through a walk. This harness is also easy to adjust and fine tune relative to other ones we have tried. I love the quick but strong and secure metal fasteners for the straps as well it makes getting the harness on and off much faster than conventional buckles, for me anyway.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

I am planning to buy a separate tether with a locking carabiner that attaches to the latch used for a car seat base. Can I safely attach a locking carabiner to this harness or does it only work with a seatbelt?

  1. yes that would work. the harness just has a metal loop, you can hook anything to it.

I’m not seeing a sizing chart. My mini Aussie is about 14 pounds

  1. Thank you for your great question. By looking in the additional product photos, you can find the sizing chart. Rather than basing your decision off of weight, you will want to measure your dog around the base of his neck and the girth of his chest. The weight should be the final factor in deciding the size in case your dog happens to fall into more than one size based off of measurements.
