Birds and Squirrel

It seems to be really good bird food. I get quite a few different birds show up to eat. But I also have a squirrel who really likes it. I run him/her out when I see they are there.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Disappointed

My outdoor birds will not eat the fruit and I usually buy this brand. I was very surprised by the lack of edible food, such as various nuts and shelled seed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Squirrels & Birds Love It!

Squirrels and Birds love! The only reason I took one star away is that the contents are not consistent. Sometimes there are more sunflower seeds than anything else. But the birds and squirrels love it!

No, I do not recommend this product.

This bird seed smells heavenly. I think it's from the cherries. And it is my very favorite. My birds love it. And I have Downy woodpeckers, pileated woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, titmice, chickadees, nuthatches, finches and they all love it. It's the only thing I buy besides suet. So get a big bag for your precious birds! They are worth it!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Birds and critters in for a treat

Attracted various birds but they had to compete with the squirrels who also found a treat... On the down side too expensive to use on a daily basis.

Yes, I recommend this product.

What type of feeder should I use ? I have it loose on my balcony wall and no birds eat the nuts or fruit.  the nuts  are too big so they need to peck at it. The doves don’t seem bother. What hanger is best for smaller birds to peck at, what size mesh?

  1. Many small birds that visit feeders, like some of the small sparrows, may not eat this mix. If you’re interested in attracting the widest variety of birds, I have a couple suggestions. First, as far as feeders, by far the most preferred style (at least where I live) are tray or platform style feeders. Petco sells one  Kaytee Wild Bird Bath or Feeder that is a favorite in my yard. My second suggestion for feeding a larger variety of birds is to add 1 more seed mix to your feeder. Petco sells 1 called Kaytee Dove Mix that has white millet as the main ingredient. White millet (not red) is LOVED by mourning doves, sparrows, finches, cardinals & the list goes on. Using this fruit & nut blend with the Dove Mix, in a “tray”/platform style feeder is a guaranteed way to have the birds flocking to visit you. (Keep in mind it can take awhile for birds to find your feeder. Once they do, as long as you reg refill it, they’ll never leave)

Will Mynah birds eat this blend?

  1. Although I have not seen this type of bird in my area, I have NOT seen any bird or wild life that does not like this blend. In fact I find, once my (wild) birds get a taste of this blend, they refuse to eat anything else!

How many pounds in a bag of Kaytee Nut & Fruit wild bird food?

  1. I put my feeder up yesterday (10/26) and I have a steady stream of birds and woodpeckers at my feeder this morning dinning on it's content. sometimes there are up to 5 birds on there at once. :) Surprisingly, they can't wait for the previous tenant to fly away before the next one starts :)
