My chinchillas love to sit on Kaytee Lava Ledges. I hate to be without. Sometimes my chinchillas will take small bites of the ledges and then rub their faces in the dust. It is so cute! :)

Nice size for chinchillas to hop onto. However, my chinchillas chewed threw it within a few hours of putting them in the cage.

The lava ledges are great. I hope Petco changes over to the new Kaytee design using plastic rather than steel washers. The newer design also eliminates the hassle of removing the plastic shrink-wrap from the ledge.

I have 2 rats with really sharp nails. I'm looking for something to dull their nails with and someone had recommended this. Would this be the right type of tool for my situation?

    These do have the ability to do that if your ratties are on them enough! I always make sure I put one under each water bottle for my girls. I also made stairs with some up my cage so they jumped up to each one as they climbed. I don’t do a cage set up without them. I definitely recommend them.

Can this be used on rabbits?

    Yep. Mine likes his quite a lot. He digs and chews at it often (which is good for maintaining his nails and claws). When he first got it he went berserk for it! Hope yours enjoys it too.

Could this be used for parrots?

    I don’ see why not. Our chinchillas keep their front teeth trimmed by gnawing on the lava ledge. The ledges are soft and brittle and should not damage the bird’s beak. Buy one and show it to your Vetrinary for a professional opinion. Parrots are expensive and exotic animals, a vet can give you a reliable answer to your question.

What is the diameter of the bolt?
