can i use this for hamster substrate
- Yes you can they will love it I have been using the kob bedding for years now and I love it and it's very easy to keep clean it's almost like cat litter when they pee or poop it clumps up and because it's made from corn cobs there's small peices of corn in it they will have fun digging around looking for the corn

When used as compost,will this dissolve in soil?
- Yes, but if you are using it in a bird cage I wouldn't compost it. All those seeds the bird drops in the litter will start growing all over your yard if the compost doesn't get hot enough to kill the seeds.

The product I currently use is measured in cubic inches. How many cubic inches is 25 lbs?
- 25 pounds is 692 in3 / cu in The pounds amount 0.087 lb converts into 1 cu in - in3, one cubic inch. I believe this can be refined based on what is being weighed, e.g. sand, water, concrete.

I have 2 questions. Do you place this directly in the tray? Do you take the grill out so your birds can walk and sleep directly on this litter?
- It says on the bag "animal consumption of any bedding product should be avoided". I used it briefly under my parrot's play stand and my conure did occasionally eat bits of it. I started using it ONLY under a gate in the cage.
