I have a pet lovebird named peaches. I mixed crushed oyster shells, cuttlefishbone power and supplement calcium because she was laying eggs every two months, i gave her supplement calcium and mixed it with crushed oyster shells and cuttlefishbone powder. you think that supplement bird calcium will harm or kill her since too much calcium is no good. she stopped laying her eggs every two months, she is laying every four months. is it alright to give her a bird calcium supplement, is it safe?
Is there a good high calorie supplement, vitamin or food that I can offer my seed junkie parakeet? She scored a poor body condition, was described as thin at her exam. Currently taking Metacam for an ouchy foot.
Hello, I have a female budgie named sweety.she is pregnant.what would be the source of calcium for her? Other than cuttlefish bone.....
My cockatiel has been eating Leferber’s Premium Daily Diet pellets as a staple diet. She’s also been eating broccoli everyday. I also give her a bit of crushed eggshells once or twice a week. She has a cuttlebone available at all times. I’m wondering if this would be an okay product to give her? She isn’t much of a veggie eater. Will this be beneficial or unnecessary for her? I’m including the details of the product in attached photos. I do feed her some seeds as a treat sometimes. Thank you.
I have a 22 year old Timneh African Grey parrot. I have used Harrison's pellets medium size in the past. It has been discontinued. My parrot won't eat the fine size and drops the large size into water. I need suggestions of what else to use.
since peaches laid all those eggs what calcium supplement should i give her i am giving her crushed oyster shells, should i give her more calcium?
Griffon was a 4 yr old Scarlett chested parrot that suddenly passed away in the night. Findings by pathologist in a necropsy was renal gout.Excess protein or calcium can cause it. He and the cage mate are on Mazuri small bird diet and chop (veggies, grains, and Higgins vita seed mixed together). One cup of the seed is mixed with about 8 cups of veggies. Does this diet sound appropriate or is something adding in too much of the previous listed vitamins.
My pigeon has laid an egg. She is weak. What food should I give her during these days? I heard of grit. Is it good for pigeon? Will they eat them? Is it a stone or what? Give me a list of healthy foods.
For quite some time both of my birds have been chewing the life out of their perches and ladders. I give them gravel grit, and greens, and vitamins in their water. Is this normal, or is there a deficiency, or an underlying problem?
We're wondering if there's anything we can do to improve her diet. Right now she is eating pellets (Zupreem, converting to Zupreem naturals), seeds, and we offer veggies every day despite her never really finishing them. We're now grinding up a Tums onto the food every day, as she was egg bound recently. We get 30-60 mins of time outside a day when possible, for sunlight. Any suggestions, or does this look fine? Thanks.
Adding on to last question: my bird is already eating vegetables. She is picky and doesn't finish them but we offer them every day. It includes kale, carrots, broccoli, corn, pasta, and whatever else I have to throw on top of that. She is also eating pellets and seeds. Our vet still said we should be adding calcium on top of her food daily from here on out BC of what happened with the egg. Is that too much calcium? Will it hurt her? What should I do??
I have a pet lovebird named peaches, she laid 5 eggs for the month of July. I am mixing crushed oyster shells, cuttlefishbone powder, and supplement calcium will this hurt her in any way or kill her? She laid 5 eggs is this normal for her, how many eggs in a clutch can a lovebird lay?
