When introducing a new food begin with a mixture of old and new food, gradually increase the amount of new food over a seven to ten day period. For best results discard any uneaten portion and clean food dish before next feeding. Fresh water should be available at all times. The following feeding amounts can be used as a starting point for one bird. Adjust the portions to maintain proper weight and if additional birds are fed. Conure: 1/8-1/4 cup. Lovebird: 1/8 cup. - I've bred blue parrotlets several years ago and have never heard of what you mentioned although I haven't kept up with studies. I presently breed large parrots. The colored seed in this product I believe is the fortified portion for their additives. I've always fed fresh fruits and vegetables along with seed and zupreem pellets. Never had a problem. I do believe you should never raise any bird/parrot on seed alone which will cause many problems, especially fatty liver. I also provide filtered water.

What food should I be buying for my budgie, so that I do not need to buy a separate vitamin liquid or powder?
I have 2 parakeets and I have been feeding them seeds and millet. I believe that what I am currently feeding them is not nutritious. I am currently training them to eat fruit and vegetables and to be hand tamed. I would like to know what food can I buy for them so they can eat nutritious and I can take my time training them.

Hi! I recently got a little baby parakeet. So far, she’s been doing very well; it’s been a little over a month. However, instead of eating all of her seed mixture, I think she just picks through & eats her favorites because there are a lot of remnants at the bottom of her cage that are uneaten. She eats kaytee Fiesta seed mix. Should I change it? Add something else? Or what what I incorporate in her diet to make sheets she’s getting what she needs? She’s tried apple so far.
I have a 4 month old Black capped conure. I noticed this morning when I first took him out of his cage he had more watery stool then usual. Colors looked normal. It’s a dark green color with white. I have a Quaker parrot who is at least 24 years old. I have had him that long but was a rescue so not sure of exact age. I am looking for suggestions on a better senior food for him.
My cockatiel has been eating Leferber’s Premium Daily Diet pellets as a staple diet. She’s also been eating broccoli everyday. I also give her a bit of crushed eggshells once or twice a week. She has a cuttlebone available at all times. I’m wondering if this would be an okay product to give her? She isn’t much of a veggie eater. Will this be beneficial or unnecessary for her? What is a good diet for a green check conure . When we bought him he was on seeds he is still a baby I guess , o my 4 months old . I started him on zupreem pellets but he was not eating only that so the store recommended the zupreem smart blend that has seeds and pellets . My birds poo has been this color for the past 3 or 4 days? He has been eating Zupreem Fruit Pellets.
I got my male Parakeet 11 days ago, his feces were dark brown and firm his urates white and his urine clear, I've been around my parents budgies a lot so I assumed this was normal.
