I have a 37 yr. old parrot that thrives on this food. He has never had a sick day in his life, and I credit this food for playing a large part in that.

I've purchased this product for years, but the last bag I received may be my last bag. My parrot and I have always thought it contained too much corn, sticks and pumpkin seeds, but the last bag appeared to be the trash rather than the good. It contained way too many sticks, a lot of sunflower hulls, COCKLEBURS, dust, etc. Definitely NOT worth the money.

This was my second order the first one was great. This one was about 50% corn,whole peanuts and sunflower seeds and filler. which my quacker hated. Had to go An get him some seed.

My African Gray who is almost 30 years old, and only ill twice in his life..went into severe digestive disturbance, and liver failure after 1 mo. on this food...I don't know which ingredient stated the probem...would guess it was the probiotic mix, and the food color. I , myself, am allergic to yellow dye # 5... and should'n't even handle it... also allergic to Sulfites...which set off asthma attack. Before he showed signs of getting ill,, he started refusing the food and scooping it out of his dish onto the cage floor. He is very smart, I wish i had stopped putting it in his dish then, and Im praying he recovers completely...word is out on his prognosis. The parrot never had odd drppings PRIOR TO EATing THIS...AND THIS ISNT THE USUAL KAYTEE PRODUCT...LOTS MORE CHEMCALS, AND EVIidently TOO MUCH probiotic. The vet said his odd colored dropping were crawling with bacteria. The droppings were several shades of orange and yellow . I got very worried when I found his urates were also yellow. I am waiting for his blood work results and his liver x-ray.. He lost 4 oz n past 2 weeks. Tonight I am ordering different food...I guess I'll go back to Kaytee Fiesta...am concerned about probiotic in that formula ,as well. I have a pug who got bloody diarrhea from a probiotic miix... and have heerd of similar problems from others....i think you need warnings for allergic pet owners, and for pets who have allergies, and I think probiotic use has been way overdone. IN NATURE BIRDS GET THEIR PROBIOTC MIX FROM THEIR PARENTS , AND DONT GET ANY BOOSTER DOSE...UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN ON ANTIBIOTIC-- THEY DO NOT NEED THiS Excess BACTERIA

I have been using this seed based diet for more than 10 years for my four larger parrots (Brown Necked Cape parrot, Jardine's parrot, Great Billed parrot and Yellow-collarded Macaw) as the base for their overall diet to which I add fresh fruit, sprouted grains, nuts (pistachio, almond and walnut) and whole grain pasta. My three smaller parrots (Meyer's parrot, Peach-fronted and Yellow-sided green cheek conures) get the conure version of this diet. The combination has worked well and all are in very good health.

My birds love this food.I have an Eclectus, Nanday and Alexandrian. The only problem I have is the peanuts look old and sometimes dusty dry and black inside. I always remove them and throw them away. I would love to see this same food made with no peanuts. My birds really love this food.
