I got this bc my hamster loves to climb, and her other cage didn’t allow her to. This does, so it’s perfect and it’s customizable! However, the space on the base of the cage is pretty small. I can’t comfortably fit both her water and food bowl and a “house” in there without it being smushed together.

Misleading packaging. Nowhere on the package does it show you a picture of this item attached to a cage. There is a good reason for this. I purchased this item to give the hamster more room to roam since the Kaytee Starter Cage is so small. I planned to attach to the side of the cage as expansion of space. You should know there is no way to LOCK THIS onto the side of the cage. The "J" piece does not have any notches on the end. If you put it on the side opening it will slide down into position, but there is nothing to support it upright. It can tip forward or backward easily and falls off. I called Kaytee and was told to put the stem through a hole in top of cage instead so the hamster could walk into the tube and climb. I didn't want to do this since that would take some of the very limited cage floor space away from the hamster. The associate admitted that the tower would not be stable when mounted on the side. I give two stars because we eventually used the boxes and a rubber band to hold it upright on the cage by attaching it to the Kit 2 on the other side of the cage and the hamster loves them, but it is an inelegant and cumbersome solution. Kaytee should show the proper usage of these kits in a photo on the box instead of allowing people to think that they can attach safely on the sides.

We bought this a week ago for my daughter's hamster he needed more room in his cage to run around. Its great for him as he loves to hide his food in the in the seeing tower top and its easy for my daughter to clean the tubes.

I like it, but my gerbil doesn't. We have a glass aquarium, so I put it in there to give more play, but she won't go in it. The items themselves are sturdy & fit together nicely, so as long as she doesn't chew them up, we're good!

Are these suitable for Syrian hamsters? Because those hamsters are quite big in size.
- No. They're not suitable for Syrian. Syrians will get stuck and it will cause back problems for the hamster. I dont care what lies Kaytee wants to tell, i speak from experience and facts. Syrians are too small for these tubes.
