Absolute garbage

My chinchilla's water bottle broke so I needed a temporary replacement until the good bottle comes. At first this bottle was dripping, then it stopped. It stopped dripping because it wasn't dispensing any water. No matter what I did, it would stop dispensing water while my girl was trying to drink. I absolutely do not recommend this product, you run a risk of having a dehydrated pet.

Awful Product

Frustrated Guinea Parent

Boy was I sorely disappointed by this product. Since the Oxbow bottle started leaking after 3 years, I invested in this Kaytee bottle. But despite filling the bottle to the fill line, turning the bottle over to create a vacuum, and making sure the cap is firmly secure, the bottle leaks like a sieve. The bottle was drained within 3 hours and soaked half the guinea pig cage and required immediate replacing of bedding. I am beyond frustrated that I cannot find a functioning water bottle that does not leak. What a waste of money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don’t buy!

Bought one week ago. At first water would not come out. Managed to get it to come out by filling below the fill line and then unscrewing 1/4 turn. Refilled water three days later and the nipple is past the turn point so mice can’t get water. Made a new holder so they could reach nipple, refilled and it won’t stop leaking. Should t have to troubleshoot this much and it shouldn’t be leaking a week after purchase.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Unreliable and dangerous!

I’m really disappointed with this bottle. I’ve had three hamsters since 2019. All of them have used this bottle, and, until recently, I’ve had very few problems using it. I went to check my hamster’s water today, however, because I had a feeling something was wrong. I found the reservoir was completely dry—no water would come out no matter what I tried. I’m honestly so horrified. I can’t even think about how long she might’ve gone without water, or what would’ve happened if I didn’t think to check. The unfortunate part is that it’s the only bottle I can find that they can’t chew through. I’ll be switching to a bowl, though, because I can’t handle the unreliability. And now I have to apologize to my hamster because she’s probably really mad at me!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Just what I needed

I recently adopted a young Syrian hamster who has chewed through 2 plastic water bottles in less than 3 weeks. This bottle is just what I needed, and was available in-store so I didn’t need to wait for shipping. Adapted it to fit the aquarium habitat by easily adding velcro. Wish the metal spout was angled a bit more, but otherwise, it worked perfectly!

Constantly leaked and never had a good seal. Don’t waste your money. Just get a plastic one and a bottle guard.

Hi there! Water bottles will always drip a few times after they are filled. This is because a vacuum needs to form. Even if the bottle is completely filled, there is a small amount of air in the nozzle. The bottle will drip to balance the air in the nozzle. We recommend turning the bottle over by the sink right after the fill-up and waiting for the initial drips to occur which will form the vacuum. Once the vacuum has formed, walk the bottle over to the cage and insert it or attach it. <img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/stratos-logos/logos/kayteepets.png" alt="kayteepets" title="kayteepets" style="display: block !important; margin-top: 2em !important; border: 1px solid #ccc !important; padding: 2px !important; background-color: white !important;" /> <!--[if ReviewResponse]><![endif]-->

By far my favorite hay and good combo dish that I or my wife have bought for any of our mammal pets. If it eats hay and pellet foods then that means it chews and these things are built better than the majority of the competitors. Unlike metal ones they won’t rust which even the galvanized metal ones from the farm store do that.

Yes, I recommend this product.
