My son sent me this thermo mat for our shop cat. She uses and seems to love it. We live in a warm climate but there are some cold days/nights at times during winter season.

Thank you for your sweet review! We're so happy to hear that your shop cat is enjoying the thermo mat, even in the warmer climate. It’s great to know it keeps her cozy during those chilly winter days and nights! Thanks to your son for thinking of such a thoughtful gift, and we hope your shop cat continues to stay warm and comfy.

After all, some times our laps are not available.

It's been three years with these and the girls still love them. The covers have been washed and held up. Make sure to hang dry otherwise they'll shrink in the dryer.

Question??

I bought the k and h ortho heat, orthopedic heated bed, for my 18 year old cat. First day, yesterday, she seems to enjoy. There are no instructions included as to whether it is safe to have on 24/7(except of course , if we leave house for a weekend, of course we would turn it off. Is it safe to leave on overnite, for example? Use 24/7 leaving it on, if we are home? I assumed since it said “ortho” it is good for senior cats with undoubtedly arthritis? Ty.

My cat loves it!

My cat is getting older and loves her cat bed under the (human) bed. I thought that one of the K&H Thermo Mats might be nice for her joints, especially since we live in a cold climate. I took her a week to get used to it, but she loves it. It is never too hot, and it's now her preferred hangout.

My babies absolutely love this! Last year they were obsessed with our heated blankets so I decided to try this out, they love it so much. Just get warm when they are on it, and never gets too hot. Our apt can run cold so it’s nice they have an option even when they don’t wanna cuddle!

My elderly cat is enjoying using this. It heats up nice and doesn't get too warm. The cover is nice, but I keep a soft blanket over the top of it to add a little extra comfort for my old boy.

What are the dimensions and thickness of the foam insert? For item: K&H Thermo-Kitty Mat in Sage, 12.5" L x 25" W.

  1. The foam inside is the same length of the mat. The thickness is almost 1/2 inch. The heating pad is not the same length it's much smaller but does heat up the whole mat. My cat loves this mat due to the warmth specially the winter months.

Is it OK to place the mat on top of a person bed

  1. I've not done this but I would say yes. The heated element is very low wattage, you have to really press down on the mat to feel the (slight) warmth. Should be fine. Lucky kitty you have..

Where is this manufactured?

  1. It's made in China

It says that it is for indoor use. Would it be usable if set well inside a pethouse which is under a patio roof where there is no exposure to rain, drizzle or sprinklers?

  1. While our indoor heated pet beds products are great for the indoors, they are not designed to return enough body heat for the cold outdoor temperatures of winter. Rather, they are designed to elevate the temperature of a pet bed that is already around room temperature. For outdoor pets, we recommend using the Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Bed, Lectro-Kennel, or Extreme Weather Kitty Pad. These are made for the outdoors and will provide enough heat for an outdoor setting during the cold winter months.

Is it safe to leave plugged in if we go on vaction for 10 days?

  1. MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards. For more information, please visit www.metlabs.com.

in looking at your pet warming pads for cats, i see none that are rated for outdoors. What can you recommend?

  1. I make straw beds for outside stray kitties to keep them warm in winter. This works pretty well. I put the straw (not hay) in a plastic kitchen size garbage bag, not packed full, you want to be able to shape it, tie it shut and wrap a fleece blanket around it. I shape the straw bag so it's like a deep donut cat bed. Kitties get in and snuggle down into it. I get a 1-2 yard fleece fabric from Joann Fabric store, if they have the Sherpa fleece that's the warmest, they have it half price a lot. A whole bale of straw is about $10 at the feed store. Total cost about $15. Sometimes I use a couple bags to make a super insulated bed, the air in the straw warms up from the cats body heat and the fleece keeps the heat in and warms the kitties unlike other fabrics that wick away body heat from cats. Plus if I want to get it warmed up fast, I heat a Corn-Bag in the microwave and stick it under the bed. Make "corn bags" using feed corn and flannel, or put rice in tube socks and tie them off. They stay warm for awhile and this might even be all you need.

Does this have a cord and plug-in to the wall? How long is the cord?

  1. Yes, this has a plug and cord. The cord is about six feet long. It only heats when the cat is on it, otherwise it remains at room temperature. My cat loves her heating pad and spends the entire winter on it. I plan on getting another for my other cat so he stops trying to steal it from her.

How long is the cord on this ?

  1. About six feet.
