Keeping my barn cats safe and happy!

Kaydee Conticelli

My barn cats thank you for this product! The barn cats and my guardian dogs would drink out of the goat trough during the winter. I had a deicer in the goat trough (not from this amazing company). That deicer shocked my LGD and electrocuted a barn kitten. On that day I went searching for a heated water bowl to keep the kitties healthy and safe! I am extremely happy with this bowl! It’s is big enough for the LGDs and the barn cats! Thank you K&H! I found you through tears and sorrow. Now I am confident my animals are safe and have water to drink in the winter! I am grateful you supply these items and at a very good price! I will be purchasing more in the future!

Terrific outdoor water bowl

I have had this bowl for many, many years, outside and never once froze over solid. K&H makes such quality products I never have a concern about safety for my kitties. My bowl has finally gotten to the stage of it's time to get a new one. I haven't wanted to get a new one because you know - cats and change, but it's time.

Great warming bowl!

I purchased this bowl to provide warm water for the stray cats we care for and it works as advertised. The water stays warm in cold weather so they don't have to drink ice cold water. It's well worth the purchase!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this watered in my chicken coop. It is great for making sure my birds have unfrozen drinkable water all winter long.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] my pup loves to spend her time outside, but it gets cold unexpectedly and the weather in Ohio changes daily. this has given me some peace of mind to let my pup play outside while I'm at work and make sure she has an unfrozen water bowl and a place to sleep.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems like a great idea, but my dogs do not care. They continue to drink out of the pool no matter what we do. It does it’s job though so I’m not gonna review it poorly.

Could this be used to prevent kibble or wet food from freezing in outdoor temperatures at or below 0 celsius?

  1. IF functioning correctly, the bowl does protect contents from freezing. Our bowl quit functioning after just a few months and our temps were not severe, nothing below 15 degrees fahrenheit . The plug is two prong, not a grounded 3 prong. I would recommend looking for a better quality product with a 3 prong grounded plug.

Will it keep dry kibble warm

  1. I only used it in an unheated garage but I would expect so.

Why is it "not recommended" to use a bowl or other liner? That would make it so much easier to clean. The Thermo Kitty Cafe is similar but comes with a stainless bowl/liner.

  1. A liner would insulate the water from the heater in the bowl and reduce it's effectiveness.

What is the sizes of the small and medium don’t see it anywhere on description

  1. 32 oz., Slate Gray – 10.25" L x 10.25" W x 3" H. 96 oz., Blue – 11.5" L x 11.5" W x 4" H. 1.5 gallon, Granite – 14" L x 14" W x 5" H. 102 oz., Stainless – 13" L x 13" W 3.5" H.

Does anyone think that this could be used as a heated birdbath outside my door? I've tried birdbath heaters and have yet to find one that worked..

  1. When the weather regularly gets below freezing, I put the heated bowl out for my dog. The birds have found it and have not had any issue using it for cold weather drinks with up to 4 of them sharing by perching on the rim. Other than needing to clean it and refill it often, it's been a pleasure to watch the birds. Matter of fact, it gets more bird use than dog use! It got very cold last night and temps dipped below 0; this is the first time I've seen it totally freeze. That's why I was looking here to see if a minimum temp was listed. I plan to pry the ice chunk out and refill; hopefully it'll be a bit warmer and won't totally freeze again.

Heated water bowl gets heavy use. The critters empty it by morning. So, will it shut off, or will it burn up?

  1. I remember reading in the directions to NOT keep the bowl plugged in if there is no water in it. So, I will assume there is NO auto shut off.

Are electric heated water bowls for dogs safe to use on a wood deck?

  1. I've had this type of heated water bowl on a wood deck for the past seven winters with no issues.

Can this bowl be used outdoors (exposed to rain, snow, etc.)?

  1. I have been using heated water bowls outside for 7 to 8 years never an issue I just protect the plug where goes into the socket with a baggie the water does not run in the plug connector

When you indicate using an extension cord of 25 feet or less and heavy duty for water dish warmer, what gauge is considered heavy duty

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. Typically a 10 or 12 gauge is considered heavy duty.

Can this product (heated dog water bowl) be safely connected to a longer, heavy duty, extension cord? My dog pen is some distance from the house

  1. Thank you for your question. According to the manufacturer an extension cord may be used however it must be heavy duty, rated for outdoor use, and be 25 feet or less in length. njc
