Questions
Could this be used to prevent kibble or wet food from freezing in outdoor temperatures at or below 0 celsius?
- IF functioning correctly, the bowl does protect contents from freezing. Our bowl quit functioning after just a few months and our temps were not severe, nothing below 15 degrees fahrenheit . The plug is two prong, not a grounded 3 prong. I would recommend looking for a better quality product with a 3 prong grounded plug.

Will it keep dry kibble warm
- I only used it in an unheated garage but I would expect so.

Why is it "not recommended" to use a bowl or other liner? That would make it so much easier to clean. The Thermo Kitty Cafe is similar but comes with a stainless bowl/liner.
- A liner would insulate the water from the heater in the bowl and reduce it's effectiveness.

Does anyone think that this could be used as a heated birdbath outside my door? I've tried birdbath heaters and have yet to find one that worked..
- When the weather regularly gets below freezing, I put the heated bowl out for my dog. The birds have found it and have not had any issue using it for cold weather drinks with up to 4 of them sharing by perching on the rim. Other than needing to clean it and refill it often, it's been a pleasure to watch the birds. Matter of fact, it gets more bird use than dog use! It got very cold last night and temps dipped below 0; this is the first time I've seen it totally freeze. That's why I was looking here to see if a minimum temp was listed. I plan to pry the ice chunk out and refill; hopefully it'll be a bit warmer and won't totally freeze again.

Heated water bowl gets heavy use. The critters empty it by morning. So, will it shut off, or will it burn up?
- I remember reading in the directions to NOT keep the bowl plugged in if there is no water in it. So, I will assume there is NO auto shut off.

When you indicate using an extension cord of 25 feet or less and heavy duty for water dish warmer, what gauge is considered heavy duty
- Thank you for your inquiry. Typically a 10 or 12 gauge is considered heavy duty.

Can this product (heated dog water bowl) be safely connected to a longer, heavy duty, extension cord? My dog pen is some distance from the house
- Thank you for your question. According to the manufacturer an extension cord may be used however it must be heavy duty, rated for outdoor use, and be 25 feet or less in length. njc
