It is winter time here and my eight week old kitten is absolutely bored in the garage. She isn't allowed in the house but we give her food everyday and she catches mice in the garage. She wants to go out and once she did go out when it was snowing and was bewildered. How can I take care of Holly in the winter? And how cold is too cold for her?
Dear Doctor, It has gotten really cold this days here with rains and poor Holly had to stay in the shower room all day long which is a small humid warm room outside of the house. I've moved and to get my cat acclimated I've decided I'm going to crate him while we are working. The crate i have is 42"x28"x30", with a dual level. Will this be enough space for my cat? He is 14y/o, and will be crated for 6-8 hours 5 days a week for a few weeks, until he gets used to the area. Of course he'll be inside the house, and let out in the evenings and sometimes for a bit on lunchtime.
So, I let my kitty out last night to go to the bathroom and he refused to come back in. After hollering all day, he just finally showed up. Well, when he came in, he fell at his food bowl breathing heavy and lethargic. Where we're at, it is currently 114 degrees and I'm afraid he's had a heat stroke. I finally got him to drink some and I wet his fur and he's now laying in front of a couple fans in an air conditioned room. Is there anything else I could do for him? The vet is closed now.

I have a dog house with carpet over front entrance and a heated pet pad I bought from a hardware store. It seems warm and the 8 month old beagle goes in it but how cold is to cold for a four hour length outside while I work? He seems happy and the pad feels warm when I test it.
