Disappointed cover way different not very warm.
Cat cover different than showed in picture they show soft. Its rough and fuzzy. Heating pad is supposed to stay cool when no pressure but I did as intructed plugged it in sat a pillow over part to feel heat but it barely warmed up. I then placed a heavier object of about 7 pounds still not much heat. This would not keep a cat warm indoors. Our outdoor stray cat has a small tent to keep rain and snow off the cat house. Which is wooden. Fully insulated and has a tar and coated roof with awning. I doubt this will provide enough warmth. Considering it was over $50 I expected better. But we will try it and hope it helps her some. If not I am out the money.

The Lectro-Soft is designed to warm to your pet’s normal body temperature (around 102°F) when they lie on it and isolate that heat. It’s not pressure-sensitive, but rather uses dual thermostats and your pet’s body insulation to activate and retain warmth. When not in use, the surface temperature will vary with the ambient air. The pad emits a gentle heat when plugged in, which pets can sense and be drawn to for comfort. The faux fleece is soft and cozy, we have not heard the complaint you shared in all the years, but we hear you and noted this to our design team.

I have bought 2 of these heating pads so far. One for each of my dogs. They’re a lifesaver during the cold months. The design makes it possible to safely warm my dogs. The only thing that isn’t top notch is the covers. I’m constantly having to put the covers back on. I’d like to see those improved.

have not received the item, it was listed in stock. Have not been able to communicate with Petco as for some reason after I ordered this my account has been locked. Very poor customer service! Stick with Chewy!!

Great indoor mat. Not warm enough for cold climate
I bought this mat for my 2 male shorthair cats. It ended up being one of their favorite places-INDOORS. They are indoor/outdoor cats during the day. I initially bought it to be a outdoor mat for them but they were not interested to wait for the mat to warm up and would meow at the door instead. To the manufacturer: sorry in a cold climate or colder day a cat does not want to wait on a mat for it to warm up and the 102 that the mats gets to is not enough on a cold day. For this reason I recommend this mat indoors and cannot for outdoor use especially in a colder climate. I haven’t found a solution to my outdoor needs yet so I keep a close eye on them when they are out. I live in the Portland OR area.

When your pet is not on the bed or pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. Our beds and pads are NOT pressure sensitive, therefore always warm, no down time. All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet. K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

Luke Warm
I was disappointed with the K&H Heated Pads I purchased for my feral cats when the temperature was predicted to drop into the 20'S I placed one in the dog igloo that my cats have used as their winter hide out under our deck and another under the outdoor dining table that has a canvas cover to protect the furniture. I followed the directions but the pads never heated to what I would consider more then luke warm. All survived the bitter cold. I only wish they could have had additional warmth.
I live on Knotts Island, North Carolina.

That luke warm feeling that YOU feel is exactly what it feels like to us. To the animals it's their body temperature and anything warmer would overheat them.

How do you use an extension cord safely outdoors?
- Extension cords can be used outdoors however it has to be rated for outdoor use.

What if the pet bed gets wet when it is outside and plugged in?
- Hi Bolting Rabbit, Our outdoor heated beds and pads are water-resistant. We understand that pets collect snow and water from being outdoors. Our products are designed to be used safely with pets, even when the pet is water-soaked. Please make sure to place the bed or pad in a relatively dry area such as a covered porch, garage, kennel or dog house. The bed or pad should not be placed where there is a potential for standing water from heavy rain and the product should not be immersed in water.

Is this a soft bed or does it have a hard bottom? Can it be used with straw?
- It is soft. It needs hand blown up. So, you can make somewhat stiffer. you can have either side up or down. There is a switch inside so that when an animal lays on it, it turned on the heating element to come up to 102 degrees. You would have to try it on hay to make sure it's base, being soft hay would still allow the units switch to trigger.

How many amps does this use?
- Hi JGHook, The Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Pad comes in 3 wattages and therefore has three different amps. The 20watt is .166 amps. The 40watt is .333 amps and the 60watt is .5 amps.

Can this be used in an outdoor cat house with hay for winter
- Hi Smcee, MET doesnt recommend any combustible materials be used with electrical items. We follow MET standards and don't recommend using hay with the K&H Lectro-Soft heated bed.
