These pads are very much worth the price.

Cat magnet. We have three of these now. Two are outside, in small cat huts. We have an indoor/outdoor cat and a semi-feral cat that will sleep on these until the temperature drops below 10F or so (they both have a warmer option). They seem to prefer sleeping on these over the heated hut because the smaller huts afford a 360-degree view of their surroundings. It's nice to know that the K&H pads are up to the task; one of them is years old and still going. The money spent on a K&H pad allows me to sleep on very cold nights, knowing that they are keeping our cats warm. The pad covers wash well. I hand-wash and sanitize them by putting them into a 3-gallon bucket with lukewarm soapy water. After manually agitating them, I let them soak. A double rinse, then drip-dry. In between washings, I use a pet hair brush to remove fur and restore the nap, using very little pressure on the brush. After seeing how well these pads are made and knowing that they are made for years of use, I wouldn't bother looking at anything else.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat is totally obsessed with the heating mat. I got one for my outside cat as well for in his box. It’s nice when it’s chilly out to help keep him comfortable and warm!

Heated bed Fair

Heated bed is OK, cover is very cheap and not of very good quality, if your dog pulls or paws the cover it falls off. Cord is good with a good protective metal spring covering.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that the heated bed and cord met your expectations, but we’re sorry to hear that the cover didn’t meet your quality standards. We understand how frustrating it can be when the cover doesn’t stay in place, especially if your dog tends to pull or paw at it. We’ll take your feedback into consideration as we continue to improve the design and quality of our products. Thank you again for sharing your experience!

The heat is warm and diffuse--just right. Since it's not all that cold here, I gradually took this over from my dog and now use it as a lap robe when working from home office. I love it. Only downside is no on/off switch; it's awkward to plug and unplug in its location. I assume there's no switch because an unattended dog might chew it.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re so glad to hear that the heat is just right for you and that it’s become a cozy lap robe while you work from home. We understand your concern about the lack of an on/off switch, and you're right—it’s designed this way for safety and function reasons, especially around pets who might chew on cords. We appreciate your understanding and your creative use of the product! Just to clarify, K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when they lie on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by your pet’s body, not their weight. K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air, and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and we appreciate your understanding of how the product works!

Love it and the rescued dog loves it! He really needs the warmth and I don't have to worry that this will get too hot. Perfect amount of cushioning too; very comfortable for wounded dog.

Warm Feral Cat Mats

I purchased this heated mat for the outdoor feral cats I feed. It took a day or two for them to realize it was warm but when they did, the mat is full of cats. I purchased another one for the overflow. These are well made.

How do you use an extension cord safely outdoors?

  1. Extension cords can be used outdoors however it has to be rated for outdoor use.

What if the pet bed gets wet when it is outside and plugged in?

  1. Hi Bolting Rabbit, Our outdoor heated beds and pads are water-resistant. We understand that pets collect snow and water from being outdoors. Our products are designed to be used safely with pets, even when the pet is water-soaked. Please make sure to place the bed or pad in a relatively dry area such as a covered porch, garage, kennel or dog house. The bed or pad should not be placed where there is a potential for standing water from heavy rain and the product should not be immersed in water.

Is this a soft bed or does it have a hard bottom? Can it be used with straw?

  1. It is soft. It needs hand blown up. So, you can make somewhat stiffer. you can have either side up or down. There is a switch inside so that when an animal lays on it, it turned on the heating element to come up to 102 degrees. You would have to try it on hay to make sure it's base, being soft hay would still allow the units switch to trigger.

How many amps does this use?

  1. Hi JGHook, The Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Pad comes in 3 wattages and therefore has three different amps. The 20watt is .166 amps. The 40watt is .333 amps and the 60watt is .5 amps.

Can this be used in an outdoor cat house with hay for winter

  1. Hi Smcee, MET doesnt recommend any combustible materials be used with electrical items. We follow MET standards and don't recommend using hay with the K&H Lectro-Soft heated bed.

How often do I have to check this or can it be left on all the time? Can I place it in our cat's carpeted "house?"

  1. Hi JKBurns, The K&H Lectro-Soft heated bed should remain plugged in for the season. Yes, the bed can be on carpet.
