Keeps kicking breaker after about 90 days of use. Pond froze over. Hoping my fish haven't perished. Would not recommend poor quality product.

Great pond deicer

I've owned several of these for different ponds and I love that they float. My koi and goldfish gather around it like a hangout during the day and even in single digit weather my pond doesn't freeze. I'm able to put one near my pump and leep it running underwater if needed too.

Works great for my 100 gallon stock tank pond. The fish love it, and here in southern WV the pond constantly freezes over in the winter even with a 300gph pump pumping the water.

We use the 250 watt pond deicer in our horse trough. It keeps enough melted for the horses to drink, we are in Zone 7. This deicer requires little power and comes with a 12 foot cord, its eliminated the need for extension cords. Its worked well for our needs.

I bought this a couple of months ago for my outdoor pond. This morning I noticed my pond was freezing over with my fish in it. I inspected the unit to find that the heating element and the wire inside corroded.

The de-icer worked well but because I'm in a border-line climate zone it left the pond water was a bit warmer than I would have liked. Tyne was very helpful in diagnosing the problem and replaced it with a lower power model which is working fine. I've contacted this company twice with questions on this product and they've been very responsive & helpful.

I purchased the 1500 watt heater for my pond it was in use short of a month ,When I removed it from the pond to check it the the heating rods coming out of the ellament had rusted ( those should not rust ) and one couner of the rod had rusted thew ( it should not rust its made to be in the water and this took less than a month ) I will be returning it but hope I can get my money back as I do not feel safe putting it back in my pond !!!

I just bought and I can tell you it looks as exactly advertised and appears to be working correctly. I’ve got it plugged into a GCFI switch and into the Thermo Cube I bought from you. I hope to have a need for more of your products soon. Thanks for offering this type of product line.

How do I know if it is "on"?
- This is not an answer, it is a comment that the staff answer was not an answer either. They describe how it is supposed to work and the question was, how to verify that it is working? The staff answer seems to imply that there has NEVER been a failure. Does anyone now the answer please?

If I use the de-icer as a submersible, does it float or does it stay down without an anchor?
- It will stay down without an anchor. I do not recommend this unless the pond is shallow and is made of concrete/cement. The heating element does get very warm, and may damage vinyl or PVC ponds. These units float very low in the water with a very low profile, and are not an eye sore. (As long as you buy the black color.)

Deluxe Pond De-Icers
- These units are only made to keep a small area clear of ice to allow gases to vent. My pond is close to your size and the 1500w model has perfomed that task well.

- YES ! You do need a heater and a 750 to a 1,500 watt unit for single digit temperature protection.

when purching a de-icer, how do i know what watt to buy??????
- GOOD QUESTION !! You need to do a little research as to the pond size (gallons), and your zone. Basically, a 250W will suffice on a pond up to 400 gallons in zones 5 thru 8. Use a 750W from 400 up to 1,000 gallons in zones 3 thru 5. Use 1500W on any pond 1,000+ from zones 3 thru 5. (These numbers are for K & H Floating De-Icer's.)

What is the warranty period on this item.
- Factory warranty is 2 years. My oldest units have been used for 5 years without any issues. Clean them well at the end of the season, and be careful to never remove then from the water while plugged in, and they can last for many years. These are epoxy filled units.
