we have a 20 pound rat terrier mix in excellent health, not overweight. She is 11 yrs old and we were trying to fin d a carrier like a backpack to put her in for our long walks, when she gets tired. There are so many to choose from. I like the ones that we strap on the front of the human, and her legs stick out at the top and bottom just like a real baby. However I am concerned that the position might put too much pressure on her back end. What can you recommend?
Will my ShiChon who is 15 long and 11 high fit in a airline soft sided carrier that is 17x11x11? Will she be comfortable as well? I’ve attached a picture of her in it. She climbed in herself.

We just found out that our 11 year old has stenosis. Not much to do be keep him comfortable. He has trouble with steps, getting up after laying down. Because it is different than arthritis, I do not want to create anymore pain for him then necessary. Would you recommend a harness and what type? is it advisable for dogs to take calming/relaxing treat or pill for air travel? dog is 1yr and 8 months, 37 lbs, will be in the cargo area. flight will be 10-11 hrs and then i get to see her at arrival and then we will have another flight for 1 hr.
