Cheap kit, lots of additional work

I recently bought this tank along with the filter, light, and lid that it comes with. The tank itself is very beautiful and a nice shape and size, and that’s where it earns its only star. The filter you might as well toss (or spend a day and half modifying it like I did) as the flow inside it doesn’t make any sense. For its size there is remarkably little area for filter media. If you could remove the barrier in the heater chamber (if not using one) that would make it better. However, for some odd reason they chose to glue that in… One reason to use an underwater filter is to reduce noise that you might get using a pump and sponge filter. This thing is so noisy it makes me want to grind my teeth when I’m standing next to it. If I want to enjoy looking at my aquarium I’m going to need to replace the pump. The lid it comes with is glass, and stops short of the filter. That’s what I call a very ineffective lid. Do you have fish that jump, ammano shrimp, or mystery snails? Well, you’ll have to throw out the lid that comes with it and make your own. Spent another two days on that… Lastly, the light that comes with this is so weak I’m afraid even my slow growing plants are going to hate it. Ultimately I’m going to have to replace that as well. What a terrible “kit.” I believe the manufacturer sells it as a kit to greatly inflate the price while using very cheap products. Don’t be duped like I was.

No, I do not recommend this product.
