You can protect your pet from heartworm and intestinal worms with one medication. This monthly oral pet medication can be used in dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens to kill the immature form of heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis). Interceptor also controls adult hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum and Ancylostoma tubaeforme), and removes and controls adult roundworms (ascarids - Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina in dogs and Toxocara cati in cats), and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) in dogs. Interceptor is used in the prevention of heartworm and the prevention, control and treatment of various other worm infections. Interceptor contains milbemycin oxime, which is thought to interfere with the parasite's nerve transmission, causing death of immature heartworms (larvae) and adult intestinal worms. Safe to use in pregnant and nursing dogs.

  • - Easily protect your dog, puppy, cat, or kitten from heartworm and intestinal worms
  • - Treats and controls hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm
  • - Tasty flavor tabs are easy to administer

Interceptor must be administered monthly, preferably on the same date each month. Interceptor may be given year round, although some veterinarians may recommend giving it only during the mosquito season. If given seasonally, the first dose must be given within 30 days of the pet's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be given within 30 days after the pet's last exposure to mosquitoes. Most dogs and cats like the taste of Interceptor and will accept the tablet as a treat. Interceptor may be crumbled and mixed with some food. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated animals should be observed for a few minutes after administration to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If not entirely consumed, give another full recommended dose as soon as possible.

Do not use in puppies less than 4 weeks of age or less than 2 pounds, or in kittens less than 6 weeks of age or less than 1.5 pounds.

Recommended for Collie breeds.

This seems to be the most recommended of the flea prevention medications that also kills ticks for Collie breeds. This is my first time trying due to the lack of availability of Revolution, but may be my new go-to.

Safer than others

I have been using this product with my Collies. Of course as you know Collies are prone to mdr1. You have to be very careful about what medications you use. I would never use Heart guard with a Collie so this is the best medication and the safest! Also safe to use with pregnant females. My only issue is my dogs will not take the medicine. So what I do is use a pill cutter and chop it into four pieces, then I use a can of Squirt cheese and give it to them with the cheese all around it. This way they eat it and don't even think twice! You should always give this medication to them on a full stomach after a meal and make sure they chew the tablet. If your dogs do not do this then you should break it up.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The product was recommended by my vet, but it is cheaper at Petco. Have been using it religiously for years, with apparently good results.

They seem to do the trick. The dogs' bloodwork has always come back fine and fleas aren't a problem. I don't know about the flavor or not-never tasted them. Dogs eat them fine just putting it with their food-I don't have to hide it in a piece of meat or cheese.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is now about the only medicine that fleas are not getting resistant to and it is cost effective as well when figured over 7 months. The reflectors are these collars are awesome.

Our golden usually needs a peanut butter coating to take any meds but she loves the flavor of these Interceptor tabs and takes it easily. She has been using Interceptor for years and has always had negative heartworm tests; it works!
