I decided to try this with my beef sensitive dog. I read the front of the bad as it says only wild caught Alaskan pollock, so I assumed that the food would only have fish in it. I started incorporating this with my dogs food to transition her to it. And the next day her stool was loose. I didn’t think too much of it. The day after that she had full blown diarrhea. She can normally go my whole work shift without an accident. So when I walked in and saw that she had diarrhead all over the carpet and in the kitchen I decided to look at the ingredients in the new food as that is the only new thing for her. To my surprise almost the entirety of the protein comes from beef. Which my dog is allergic to. I felt awful for my dog because she is sick due to misleading packaging.

I have 2 cats but only one will eat the freeze-dried. He was no longer enthusiastic about the chicken version so I tried the Pollock. He was very happy. The only drawback is he is toothless so I have to cut each morsel in half. He won't eat it moistened. He eats it in addition to Instinct Salmon kibble. Doing well and is thriving.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Made Four of My Six Cats Sick!

I was pleased with this product based on size of kibble and its crushability. We like to dust our cats' wet food with dehydrated protein. Sometimes they can be picky, so the dusting helps get them to eat. We have six cats, so it's not in our best interest financially to have them refuse food on the regular. Although Instinct Meals Wild-Caught Alaskan Pollock Recipe Freeze-dried kibble is a bit expensive, if it could get our cats to eat their twice-daily wet food meals, it would be worth the cost. Last night, for their first time, I gave all of my cats a couple bits of the Instinct Meals Wild-Caught Alaskan Pollock Recipe Freeze-dried kibble to see if they would like it. They did. We like to crush this type of kibble over their wet food, but didn't want to do that with this brand until we knew they would eat it. Knowing that it takes a while for cats to adjust to new foods, we gave them a small amount, maybe six kibbles each, four which were crushed up and dusted over their regular wet. Since a full meal requires a half-cup each for their weight, we didn't think it was a lot. However, within a half-hour after eating their meal, which consisted of Tiki Kat Grilled Sardines and Lobster, plus this kibble crushed on top, one of the cats threw up - twice. Then, shortly after that another cat...and then further into the evening another, and then the fourth cat. Within two hours, four cats lost their dinner. The two that didn't throw up seemed lethargic and just wanting to sleep. Tiki Kat wet food wasn't new, my cats have had it many times before. We can only conclude that since this affected four of our 6 cats, with the remaining two not behaving normally, and because it was a new ingredient, we are certain it was Instinct Meals Wild Caught Raw Pollock Recipe that did the deed. When I looked at the ingredients, although Pollock is the first one, there's a lot of beef and beef organs in the mix - including spleen, along with some type of grass and clay that I've never heard of before. In summary, if you are considering buying this regardless of my review, test on your cats, first, before you give them an entire meal of it, and make sure that you ease them into it over the course of a week, mixing small amounts in, gradually adding more every other day. Cats need time to adjust to a new food. Honestly, though, for the price and the ultimate waste, I cannot recommend this food enough times. It was expensive ($25!) for a small bag, compared to any bag of - for example - Origin brand dry food, which sells for the same price but you get a whole lot more. I'm giving 1 star out of 5 only because of the small size and ease of crushing.

No, I do not recommend this product.
