I bought this 6 weeks ago and my cats love it and are not able to break into it, although they won't stop trying. I can use the sound of it to get them in the house when they escape, which is an unexpected plus. The real problem is that if it goes offline, it doesn't reconnect. So, if there is an internet outage, which there often is in my area, it ceases working until I remove the device from the app and reload it. This kind of defeats the purpose of the thing. It can be set on a timer, which could help. I don't know if the timer would stick if the power went out.
