Rinse and wipe down all parts with clean, soft towel prior to first use. Assemble and check for any broken parts. Frequent inspection, removal and cleaning of all parts is recommended for optimal functionality. Unplug prior to any cleaning or maintenance. Replace applicable media as suggested in the instruction manual or no more than every 4 weeks.

This doesn't do much for the light oily film in my 29 gal. This oily film is a fairly recent issue. However I'll be keeping this. It does add some circulation and the air injection is a plus. It's not possible to use the direction adjustable fan tip and the air injection together unless you make some type of connector yourself. So bubble streaming is straight out only. The adjustment for adding bubbling air is pretty difficult to adjust, but you'll eventually get it. When adjusted for lower air bubbling, it kind of 'puffs' streams of tiny bubbles. Almost an on/off cycling.

it came with a clear hose. I assume it should attach to the adjuster that regulates water flow. Does the clear hose stay out of the water? Stay in the water? Instructions dont even show a hose.
