SOLE PURPOSE: To clean out my fountain. I needed a netting that could scoop up all or most of the small particles and pollen and leaves being dumped daily into the reservoirs from my neighbor's oak trees. I didn't need a long handle such as those used for pools and wanted a netting with a fine mesh instead of those used for tropical fish. I saw this and the price was decent and it was available at my local Petco store so I ordered it for store pickup. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the handle could have been a little longer and the opening would have worked better for me if it had a 4 inch opening. Overall it is doing as I hoped in helping me clean the fountain somewhat by getting the bigger particles out of the water so I wouldn't need to clean the pump filter as much but it is still a bit small in cleaning out the leaves. As the net is actually for shrimp in a fish tank and is a very fine mesh, I would still rate it 4 stars if used for it's actual purpose mainly because the handle could still be another 6 inches longer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great for Baby Brine Shrimp!

The Smallest Potato

I got this for straining out baby brine shrimp to feed my fry. I was worried that they would pass through, but they don't! One side has a thick seam and sometimes the little shrimps get hung up on it, but no biggie :)

Yes, I recommend this product.

BEST NET FOR MY BETTA!

SKizer

Best net for my Betta. I use it inside out if I need to net him so the seem is on the outside and it is so soft there is nothing to snag his fins on. It is also great for scooping out uneaten food particles and waste because it is not made of netting. It is a super smooth fabric and nothing gets through it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Is it good to filter adult daphnia? Will the adult ones stay in while baby daphnia will pass through?

  1. Hi Fishkeeper123, The hole is quite tiny, much smaller than 1.5mm. The adult daphnia can stay but not sure if the baby daphnia can pass through. Thanks,

Is the net fine enough to pick up sand?

  1. This net is fine enough to strain out course to fine sand. It will not pick up very fine sand (passing 100 sieve), though.

how fine is fine?

  1. Thank you for your question. The Fine Mesh Net for Shrimp is fine enough to hold baby brine shrimp.
