HORRIBLE PURCHASE!!!

Bought this about a month ago when i bought my shrimp. Followed all the proper steps (rinsing it and saturating it etc) before adding it to my 3 gallon, and over the time it was in my tank it started disintegrating. Made the tank water very murky and brown and clogged up 2 of my filters in two weeks. Caused an excessive amount of brown algae growth in my tank as well as generally polluting the water. I ended up having to move my shrimp and the log to an unfiltered 2 gallon tank and the next day the water was so brown and two of my shrimp died!! Did a water change and removed the log, haven’t had any problems with the shrimp since. However, in my main tank my betta developed fin rot and dropsy shortly after, where he had zero complications the first 7 months he was in my care. Worst purchase I’ve made for my tank as I now have to replace most of my decore and buy antibiotics for my fish. Would rate negative stars if I could, and definitely recommend smooth driftwood and plants as a shrimp hide over this nightmare.

shrimp (baby) used it all the time!

Loveddd it! It was a great hide for smaller shrimp! The baby's have an amazing hide and they absolutely love it! The log does float but the shrimp still use it allll the time! I find them hiding in them everytime! Absolutely great if you have a bunch of plants and you can just stick the log right in the plants (so it doesn't float around)

Overall good

It makes a nice addition to my tank. It took a few days to sink and ended up settling in an awkward place so I can't tell if it makes a good hiding spot for the fish. I dont have any bottom feeders yet but I suspect with all the fuzz already growing on it that it will make a great place for bottom feeders to hide and eat. I'm not very versed with aquariums so I can't speak to its overall quality and effectiveness but I do think it was worth the money.

A Must-Have for Your Aquarium

I added this to my tank and I couldn’t be happier with it. It enhances the natural look of my tank with its rustic charm. Another bonus is that it releases tannins into the water, which has gradually helped lower the pH in my tank—a huge plus for maintaining a shrimp-friendly environment. The water even has a slight, natural tea-like tint now, which adds to the aesthetic appeal. Do be aware it does float! I've had it in for a day and a half but given time I imagine it'll sink. You can use some aquarium plant glue and put some rocks on it if you're impatient though!

Broken, broken, broken

Product arrived broken in two pieces and missing half of it. This item is intended to be a hiding area in my aquarium, but since it arrived damaged and cannot provide shelter, it will no longer be useful to me. Sorry to say, this is going right in the trash.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great addition to tank

All dogs are perfect

The cholla wood is perfect for my aquatic dwarf frog tank. . I do have other aquatic like that enjoy it as well. Provides a hiding place, it adds to the tanks natural theme. It also provides a place for anaerobic bacteria to grow to help keep the tank healthy and balanced.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good hideout for fish fry

Jen26

This wood is supposed to be for shrimp, but mine have died and thought this could be a good place for my fish fry to hide. The wood didn’t want to sink so I had to bury it into the gravel so it could stay. The fry like to hide in it like I had imagined. After about a week of it being in my tank I started to notice the wood darkening in some spots, like if it was going bad. 3 weeks go by and it’s soft to the touch and breaking off. This is a good hide out temporarily. I don’t know if I got a defective wood or not but mine didn’t last long.

No, I do not recommend this product.
