It works very well!!! It's very easy to install in any wall of the aquarium. My aquatic plants and fishes are happy in their Jungle Vallisneria River!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I like buying aquariums from Petco, especially during the 1/2 off sales.

Has good output but is non-directional for water f

Would have been nice if the power head output would swivel to direct the water flow, but this one is static and only sends the water flow forward with no directional control. I guess for $18 you get what you pay for. Had I known this ahead of time I would have selected a different power head. Other than that it works as advertised.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good flow

Bought this powerhead in an emergency situation and had no experience with this brand. Makes a small amount of noise but overall pretty quiet. Good flow for such a small pump. Great value for the price. Can’t speak to the longevity as i’ve only had it for two weeks but so far i really like it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I recommend - using it for homemade filter

I purchased this pump yesterday from my local Petco store, so I could try my hand at making a filter using a used water bottle. Details of the filter I made are below the pump review. Background - I’m using this pump in a 30 gallon tank, with a sandy bottom, that is home to 3 “lottery winner” feeder goldfish (random rescues from the pet store that will eventually live out their potentially long lives in an outdoor koi pond). Pros - powerful and relatively quiet, good price, was able to find locally at my store Cons - no specs on or in the box, threaded inlets but what size are they? I would like more attachment options Overall - I’m VERY PLEASED with this pump. It’s powerful and quiet enough given its strength. The output is so strong, I had to build a stone shroud around the outlet to keep my fish from being blown around the tank by the current it produces. This can easily be utilized in a 75 gallon tank. The cost was correct and by creating my own filter I removed myself from the store bought filter cartridge merry-go-round, whereby they are cheaply made, provide poor performance, and generally no replacement parts are available. Sending lousy filters and used cartridges to the landfill is not great for the environment. Filter details - I attached this to a used 1L water bottle (bottom cut out and notched) utilizing 2 #12 O-rings (Outside Diameter 13/16”, Inside Diameter 5/8”). It took a few adjustments to set the correct height of the filter in the tank, as well as the amount and type of media to use (filter floss at the bottom, then activated charcoal, then bio balls). But I’m amazed by the results. My tank cleared up quickly and I’m really pleased with the performance of the pump. Also - the skimmer function of this plastic water bottle pump is strong and the whole set up is making me question the canister set up I have in my larger tank.

Yes, I recommend this product.

DONT BUY

Dont buy!!! I have had 3 replacement pumps and they all stop working. I was using these pumps to mix salt for my saltwater aquarium once every 2 weeks so I was barley using it. After the fourth time of using these pumps they wouldn't turn on. Save your money and get a better pump

No, I do not recommend this product.

Was looking at this to use on an undergravel filter in a 15 gallon column aquarium. Is it to powerful?

  1. Yes, unfortunately. I bought this for the same purpose for a 10 gallon tank and ended up replacing it with the adjustable powerhead made by top finn. This turned my 10 gallon tank esentially into a toilet bowl.

Would this be too much for a 5 gallon tank, also I’m thinking about getting a water frog (African dwarf frog) and they can’t have strong currents or else it can harm them, would this keep a steady smooth current in a 5 gallon tank?

  1. This power head would be far too strong for such a small tank- and for the frog. What purpose is the power-head serving? If it is simply for more water turbulence, a stronger filter would work as a better fix. Although would not benefit the frog unless you got alot of top floating plants to create a still-water spot.

Can I use this to put on top of my sponge filter pipe?

Can I use this to upgrade the filter in my Imagitarium Frameless Freshwater Aquarium (SKU 2782157)? If not, can you point me in the direction of something that would work?

    1. I actually came to this to see for any good answers; i assume so. The pump used for the frameless imagitarium SUCKS! Biggest downside to the aquarium. I am going to buy another just to remove back but increasing the flow may increase it. I say: experiment! Worst is you need to return the pump to the store for return. For science!

Will this be too powerful for a 30 gallon tank?

    1. Hi Evanj044, We would recommend SKU 2581101 for 40-75 gallon aquariums. Thanks,

Can I use it to build an fish tank waterfall?

    1. I suppose if that’s what you want to do

I am a little dumbfounded and could use some help/advice. I previously had a wave maker, what are the pros and cons comparing this to a WaveMaker, also how are they different? Thanks

    1. This pump does not pulse like a wave maker has an air valve to aerate the water and its continuous water flow.

Has anyone used this for water changes? Like putting it in a bucket to pump water back into an aquarium?

    1. Yes, I have and it worked great. Only downside was that the inlet for aeration got in the way of the tubing I used for water changes. I had to use a hose clamp to keep it attached.

What are the dimensions of the intake strainer? I need to replace it

    1. Hi Carole100, We do not sell replacement parts for this we apologize, you will have to do some searching. Please see dimensions below: 2581101 Inner Diameter: 18.3mm The strainer portion that connects to the power head should be at least 7.7mm Long 2581099 Inner Diameter: 24.8mm The strainer portion that connects to the power head should be at least 16.98mm Long Thanks,

Can I add an airstone to this? If so what size tubing would I need?

    1. Hi zookeeper123, This would be too strong for an air stone. We recommend using an air pump instead. Thanks,
