This product is an absolute joke!!!

One ofnthe bottles will not open at all. We finally just cut it open (making the entire product completely unusable!!!) Only to find that the bottle is literally MADE WRONG and does not open at all. So, based on other reviews here, this obviously a very common issue and I'm sure the company knows about the problem, and still does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to change the problem. Awful awful awful product!!! Do not waste your money! I am so furious that I actually thought i could trust a big box store brand... shame and pathetic Imagitarium and Petco!!!

Like another reviewer, I couldn't even open the test solution bottle due to the children safety cap. No matter how much pressure I applied while twisting, it simply wouldn't open. This poor product design makes for a useless product.

One bottle opened fine, other wouldn't release the "child safety" lock. Slowly increased pressure on cap until bottle was buckling but it kept just clicking the whole time. Even using a pick to catch the inner plastic and twist didn't get it (was seized shut, never got it loose). During the process also knocked over the glass vial which shattered with a short fall (was not tempered).

This test kit always gave my aquarium a reading of 0 ppm. I started getting suspicious since my tank was not cycled so I bought the API Master test kit and used it. I used the same water and tested the ammonia using both tests and sure enough, this test still stayed totally yellow, showing no ammonia, while the API test did turn green, revealing that there was in fact ammonia in the water.

This product has given me peace of mind in regards to ammonia levels in my fish tank. This is easy to use and instructions are very clear and concise. The plastic is durable as well, I accidentally dropped it and nothing happened to it.

Easy to Use and All Required Items in the Box

Testing for ammonia levels in our fish tank was very easy. The kit came with a test tube. You fill it with 5 mL of the fish tank water, add 8 full drops of Bottle #1 and add 8 fulls drops of Bottle #2 (you will need to flip the bottles upside down to ensure you are adding full drops into the test tube), close the cap on the test tube, shake for 5 seconds, and wait for 5 minutes for results. You compare the color of the test tube to the reference sheet and you're done!

I was super excited to use this product but sadly my fish passed right before they arrived. I was able to still test her water and did find out that it may have had to do with the water levels. I will be saving this to use for my next fish tho.
