There is a SIMPLE FIX if yours restricts air flow

The first check valve I tried as a new fish owner was purchased at a competitor's store. It broke in half in a matter of minutes. So I picked one up at Petco and it looked like it was already better quality. It stayed in the package until I was ready again to experiment with an old, unused air pump. Long story short, it GREATLY reduced air flow. So I read all the reviews here of people who also had issues with them. I FIXED the problem in a VERY simple way: take a toothpick and slide it through the center of the rubber valve in the direction of airflow. It took ONE TRY and now air is gushing through the valve and into my test filter! PLENTY of bubbles now! And it hasn't broken in half yet, either ;-)

Yes, I recommend this product.

Inexpensive Airline Check Value for your Aquarium

Bought this check valve to replace a more complicated & older valve that no longer worked. Installed fine, but the instructions didn't explain which direction to mount in-line, so that took some experimentation, but one I figured it out, it worked fine. It did leak a little on the one end, but after a day or so, it stopped leaking. Very inexpensive.

Yes, I recommend this product.

It did reduce the bubble output a little bit but it assembled fine and seems like it does the job. I'd rather deal with less bubbles than disaster if we lose power.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Will this valve work with tubing that has a 1/4" inside diameter?

  1. Hi Clax, Good day! The ¼” tubing does not work with SKU2601150, a 4mm inner diameter tubing may workable. Thanks,

What is this used for? I am trying to buy everything I need for a new 10 gallon fish tank. I have the pump, stone and the airline tubing in my cart already, not sure if I need this or not.

  1. Hi AshQue A Check valve is an added security measure. It allows air to flow in only one direction and will prevent water from running backwards into the air tube and possibly out of the tank, preventing spills. Thanks

What are it's dimensions?

  1. Hi Johnnie 3, We sent you an email. regarding this. Thanks,

Can it be used upside-down. As in does it remain sealed regardless of it's orientation, or does it succumb to the whims of gravity?

  1. Hi Johnnie 3, Check valve can be used upside-down, as long as the air pump operates. Thanks,

can this check valve be used in a co2 line?

  1. Hi mikeL2020 It can be used but would depend on how much pressure is being generated by the CO2 system. Thanks,

I have a check valve AND an air control valve....how should they be installed? Does the check valve go between the air pump and the control valve?

  1. I would put the check valve between the water and the controller

Which direction are we supposed to install the check valve?

  1. Thank you for your question. The Airline Check Valve will simply pop in with the foam toward the bottom, just as pictured.
