Rinse thoroughly before use. Use 1/2 CUP (8 TBS) for every 10 gallons of aquarium water. Note: When using an external power filter, place desired amount in an Imagitarium filter Media Bag (sold separately) and place in filter before adding filter fiber. When using an internal filter, place the desired amount in the bottom of the filter and cover with filter fiber. Under normal conditions, replace every 4-6 weeks. Various aquarium conditions may require more frequent changes. We recommend replacing 50% of the Imagitarium Carbon Pellets & Zeolite Crystal Mix monthly to maintain aerobic bacterial culture in your filter.

Not really sure the difference of using this instead of the pre- made version. But my tank looked significantly clearing with in a few hours . Been a led to maintain a tank with low ammonia

I wanted some zeolite and charcoal because I was behind lazy and didn't fully cycle one of my aquariums. We were out with the kids and found some Johanni cichlids that the kids were really drawn to and we decided to pick them up. I had an uncycled aquarium and so I mixed in some water from another stocked aquarium and I added the zeolite and charcoal to the filter just to be sure I wouldn't have any problems. It worked great! It's been a week and everybody is happy. The zeolite will absorb extra ammonia until the nitrogen cycle establishes itself. Charcoal is always a good idea, especially in a new tank.

You can purchase filter bags (Imagitarium makes them), and put as much material in the bags as you want/need. Theses would be used with filters that take filter media in bags.

how do you use this when the aquarium we have from them has a "closed" carbon filter? so you just pour this in the slot? we cannot find the correct size any longer....
