Rinse thoroughly before use. Use 1/2 CUP (8 TBS) for every 10 gallons of aquarium water. Note: When using an external power filter, place desired amount in an Imagitarium filter Media Bag (sold separately) and place in filter before adding filter fiber. When using an internal filter, place the desired amount in the bottom of the filter and cover with filter fiber. Under normal conditions, replace every 4-6 weeks. Various aquarium conditions may require more frequent changes. We recommend replacing 50% of the Imagitarium Carbon Pellets & Zeolite Crystal Mix monthly to maintain aerobic bacterial culture in your filter.

Will this work for a saltwater reef aquarium? Or is it only for freshwater use?

How do you use it
- You can purchase filter bags (Imagitarium makes them), and put as much material in the bags as you want/need. Theses would be used with filters that take filter media in bags.

how do you use this when the aquarium we have from them has a "closed" carbon filter? so you just pour this in the slot? we cannot find the correct size any longer....
- Use media bags and fill those and replace where cartridges went.
