Best cover ever. Great value. All metal and nice fit with planned gaps for cords. Replaced the old primarily plastic cover that came with the unit. Two section design makes feeding and turtle removal easy.

How thick is the center hinge? I'm wondering if it will block some of the UVB light from my Flukers sun dome. Its an 8.5" dome.

I feel like everytime i open and shut this thing, it makes a loud snapping noise, startling my hamster in the process. Am i doing something wrong? Does it just make this noise when opening up?
