This freshwater plant grows quickly and under bright lights will have a tinge of brown in its leaf coloration. At least 2-3 watts per gallon is required for this plant, but more light will allow this plant to thrive.

• - Does best as a background plant in smaller tanks, but mid-ground in most tanks.
• - This type of Hygrophila grows shorter and smaller at around 6 inches in height rather than the regular form's 24 inches.
• - Avoid cichlids and goldfish as they tend to damage live plants.
